There's always a lot of fuss about 'political voting', but I can't see that that's very fair: it seems pretty obvious that countries with large Russian minorities would give points to Russia, that the only two countries that speak Greek will exchange 12 points each year, and so on. And so what that the UK hasn't won since 1997? - there are what, 40-50 countries involved each year now, so the UK can't really complain unless we get to the mid-2040s without another win!

It's only natural for countries to vote for each other because they share a similar history and culture. It's only natural that they'd vote for each other because they happen to have similar taste in music. I don't when people say that everything has to be political. It's been proven the last 5 years that countries considered to be western are able to win. Just look at this year, 2010 when Germany won and the year before that when Norway won. If the competition is all about politics and voting for your neighbour, then this wouldn't have happened.
Although easier said than done, the key to victory is a song that transcends the cultural and language barrier.

Oh, and I think Sweden deserved to win!

I loved the Swedish song this year. But their Melodifestivalen is great so I don't wonder that there's usually good performers coming from there.

The Finnish commentator was great as usual, she's sarcastic and appreciates male beauty

I never watch the song contest. Besides I had a local traditional feast. I sang the Marseillaise with a self written text in local Dutch language. I sang it loud and firm. I must admit that I have no musical talents, no feeling for rithm and a terrible voice. but . . . goddamned ZERO POINTS!!!! It is all politics, everywhere.
