Getting a man or woman to Mars is the easy bit. Getting him or her back is the hard part. On the outward trip the vehicle and the astronaut are in tip top condition. It's a long way home for them both, seven months each way, in a tin can after being pushed to the limit in a hostile environment. There has been no shortage of volunteers willing to go knowing that they might not come back. Perhaps they are looking for an alternative to a messy divorce.
