Favorite 2D game?

Hey guys!

Recently I found myself going back to play my favorite game, wich is
Final Fantasy VI (it was known as FF III when it was first released in the USA)
I love this game SO much.

This was the first FF I finished and I remember that I almost cried
while seeing the credits for the first time. This game will always
be special to me, no matter how much time has passed.
I'm sure you have a game like this too, it's not necessarily a RPG, it
could have been that arcade game you spent so many hours on!
or the first pokemon on wich you completed the pokedex :heart:

So, gaymers, what is your favorite 2D game?
Why is this game so special to you?

I can't just pin it down to ONE game... like RPGs was Earthbound. definitely. I enjoy old SNES RPGs...

I don't think it'd be appropriate to call it my favorite yet but I just got a copy of Earthbound for the SNES a few days ago and have already lost a good two days to the game; it's quite addicting for me.

Zelda most certainly counts and I, too, loved that game.
The first one I played was a link to the past in the SNES
loved the series ever since.

One game that is quite recent but nevertheless made of awesome
is Super Scrriblenauts for the DS; It is so very fun and refreshing.
Games like this show us that a videogame doesn't need to have
incredible graphics to be an excellent piece of work.
