My favorite clip is when the bag boy helps his friend on crutch's to the van. Its from 80s I believe and I cant remember what movie it was from. Wish I could find out! I saw when I was young and have always liked it.
Parting Glances. Mostly because it is so smartly written.
Others mentioned here are great delights in part because of characters/actors who make me crush hard on them. Speaking of sharp film making Taxi Zum Klo is pretty sharp, hard edged stuff.
What was the worst? That Roman quasi porn film made with loot from a bank heist back in the 80's?
I guess the main reason why you've never heard of director Rodney Evans 2004 feature film debut most probably is, that it's a movie from a small independant producer.
I think it's close to a real masterpiece and definitely one of my big favourites among American movies of the early 21st century.
I don't know if it's exactly what all and sundry would call a "gay movie", but director Todd Haynes 1998 movie "Velvet Goldmine" is a wonderful thing, full of humour and wit without really being a comedy.
It's Haynes very personal and very gayish take on Glitter Rock and the early David Bowie (in the Ziggy Stardust period). So pop icon Brian Slade (played by a very young Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and his stage persona Maxwell Demon is a loving parody/satire on Bowie & Ziggy Stardust, telling the story of how Slade met the garage rock singer Curt Wild and got madly in love with him.
Wild is like a synthesis of Iggy Pop, Curt Cobain and Lou Reed and is played by Ewan McGregor - who's absolutely electrifying in this movie. Other great actors in this film are Christian Bale and Eddy Izzard.
Here's a short clip from when Slade met Wild for the first time - "Curt Wild- Uuuaaarrrgggghhh!"
