I was thinking about how some actors and actresses have a voice that you could listen for hours, and thought to ask you your Top Five of favorite VOICES of actors/actresses

Female voices in random order:
- Claudia Black (Farscape)
- Judi Dench
- Cate Blanchett
- Satu Silvo in The Snow Queen (Finnish actress)
- Alice Krige as the Borg Queen in Star Trek: The First Contact

Male voices in random order:
- Patrick Stewart
- Jeremy Irons
- Ian McKellen
- Chistopher Lee
- Anthony Hopkins

Those are my favorites at this moment :D

What about the late great Richard Burton! Even in a very average movie he was always mesmerising, partly his screen prescence and partly that wonderful voice.

A bit fast but still sounds wonderful

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Yes, that voice is good :D

Vincent Price!
Another great voice :D *

I was quite surprised when I saw him missing in your list ^^

Mr Rickmans voice is remarkable.

Yes, he does have a great voice too:D

I forgot to add this one. It's the trailer of The Snow Queen, my childhood's favorite movie, and has Satu Silvo as the Snow Queen

John Gilgud, Richard Burton as mentioned above, Derec Jacobi's way of speaking more than the voice, Ralph Richardson. This side of the Atlantic, Christopher Plummer.

At the moment only two persons spring to mind.

Female Voice - Emma Thompson
Male Voice - Richard Burton

Julie Andrews back in the Mary Poppins era (not now LOL) and obviously in the sound of music as well

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious:cheers:

In man form, Porky pig from Bugs Bunny :rofl::rofl: okay okay I'll be serious now... I'd say Marlon Brandon had quite the voice... but he doesn't speak much anymore :) I'm sure today he'd have a very underground ;) like tone of voice

You can sure add Sydney Poitier to that list if James Earl Jones is among the crew

I'm not gonna make it to a top 5 - but I love Patrick Stuart's voice, and I could listen to Stephen Fry reading the phone book and enjoy it! Oh - and who doesn't like Sean Connory of course.

All the voices mentioned are fantastic to hear. I'll add one that most people won't know by name. He pioneered a style of movie trailer announcing, as well as many narrations and voice overs. He even parodied himself in a Geico Insurance commercial. Don Lafontaine. Chances are, if you have watched TV coming from the USA during the last 30 years, you've heard Don Lafontaine many times.

Of course the master voice artist of them all would be Mel Blanc, who gave auditory life to Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Pepe Lepew, Wile Coyote and others.

"In a world..." Oh I know him - then again I'm interested in a lot of broadcast media

Another very famous voice that was heard worldwide on voice over jingles and ads, and his recordings are still used on some radio stations, was the late Bill Mitchell. Spent half his life in a Soho pub "cultivating" his voice with booze & cigarettes :p He took over from Orson Wells too as the voice on a commercial (was it Carlsberg, I forget which one ? )

You'll recognise him if you play this clip.

You are talking about Mel Blanc, I totally agree, the man of a thousand voice... he was my favorite as a kid
