FileFactory is the worst for free users. Unless you you are very rich no one is able to subscribe to them all. I subscribe to 3: Oron (because it's widely used in this forum, but it has a download limit even for subscribers :?), Filemonster (mostly used in other forums), and Extabit (because it is now widely used for regular non-sexual movies).

I am fully aware that a poster is entitled to use the filehost he wants, but since the "death" of some of the regular filehosts in this forum, a lot of files are being scattered all over obscure ones.

Should'nt we be aiming to use the regular filehosts more often? Let me know who you think that should be?

Even the staff voices your same concerns taplan!

Prior to the file host crisis, this forum always had a list of preferred hosts. Members were free to use any host not on this list as long as they were not banned, but there also had to be mirror links to at least one of these preferred hosts.

Since the crisis, we have allowed members to use any host as long it is not on the banned list, it is globally available, and there is the ability for free download. For the last 5 months, the staff members have tested different hosts that members have used, and if you could see it, we have a thread in the staff forum that now has close to 70 different hosts that we have seen used. Just this week, 3 new hosts have been added but not tested yet.

Originally we had hoped to issue a preferred listing for the members several months ago, but the playing field keeps changing and hosts that were acceptable several months ago are poor performers now. Had we recommended these several months ago, we would now be taking these off the preferred list.

We do not want to issue a preferred list, and then have to change this in another month because members purchase premium memberships based on these recommendations.

All I can say is that we all have to be patient and until the playing field stabilizes, we will have to continue evaluating the hosts that are available to us until we can finally issue our recommendations.

We appreciate constructive comments made by all members as we do use these in our evaluations.

I also want to express a disappointment in regard to FileFactory.

I think the owners of this filehost "play dirty".

When they had competition from the likes of filehost Megauplod, Filesonic, Fileserve ...., FileFactory has always worked well.

Now it is almost impossible to download for free.

Perhaps their policy pays, because I see more and more members who post with FileFactory is this is very sad.

I do an observation: this is far from the spirit of sharing.

Personally, from an observer's point of view. I don't think FF is playing dirty. It's more a case of assigned resources and the heavy load of traffic on their servers since the Filesharing Crisis. Bigsal is correct in saying that FF did work well before, though I don't think it was ideal at any point, it was merely okay.

But since the closure of major file-hosts, a lot of posters are trying various hosts, especially hosts that have been around for some time, because most people tend to shy away from the newer hosts as they have no history and can close at any time.

Additionally, what makes things more complicated is when a poster is switching hosts too frequently. Believe me, a lot of users tend to complain about posters changing hosts every week, so to be fair, it saves on the headache. Plus posters who are using FF are also paying for the service and it would be a waste of money to invest in a host to try something different that may close or simply disable file-sharing at any time.

That said, I have heard a lot of compliments about FF premium, so to say it is bad, may not be the case.. they are just horrible for free users.

Anyway, the beauty of multiple posters is the fact that if a video was posted on a not so suitable file-host, there is always the possibility that another poster may provide this clip somewhere else.

Hopefully things would improve for FF as time goes by. Either this, or posters will simply migrate to other hosts with a better service. If that's the case, who knows, it may very well lighten the load on FF making things better for free users. But only time will tell...

Is a little difficult for me to be able to explain, but I'll try.

In my opinion, but it's just what I think, in a network environment must be free, with no posts or obstructions, otherwise we will not use the word "sharing".

is right that the filehost to have their interests, but who wants "to share", if you really want, to make available the files in the most accessible.

The message I read is: "Want to download with filefactory? Subscribe"

I think all filehost are experiencing difficulties, but FF does slyly.

But as I said, it's just my opinion.

I totally agree on this.

Not to mention the "regional issue".
The same file host may be good for some members and total crap for others!

I know that people use the File hosts of their choice, and with the crap that the government is causing it is hard to choose which host to upload your files to. I would just like to say to those guys uploading to FF and wondering why their files don't get downloaded. Every time I have clicked of FF to download a file, I get this message that says "all their free slots are taken, try again". I have tried different times of the day for days to download particular files but to no avail. Just a thought when you're uploading that people may not be able to download your files.

Well I've never had the pleasure of downloading anything from FF for free even in the hay days of the filehost era. I think they have a priority over some countries for their free slots to open up.

The thing is that it would only be harder for free users to download because of the shortage of filehosts now. Uploaders are sticking with the old filehosts because they are afraid to try new hosts. So unless FF adds more servers to meet the demand then I don't think the situation would change for the better.

does anyone have any info about a post I read here (that I can't seem to find again) that said that ISPs were reporting all downloads to the government starting on July 1, 2012? just wondering if that was a fact or just a rumour? thanks for any info

i do not know if this works in the us, but i use rehost(dot)to and jdownloader.
for a few euros a month you get access to over a dozen of filehosters, some unlimited, others limited to 20 Gb per 20 days. unfortunetly oron is not in their list of provided hosters, but a lot of the others here used. for me this is by far the cheapest solution.
