Filesonic - a ripoff, or what's going on?

I tried to download my first file in over a month today.
I tried the 'slow' Filesonic download, got a download link, then a 1kb file downloaded. Nothing else out of a 299 Mb video file.
I went back to Filesonic and couldn't download the same video as 'the link has expired', but also couldn't download anything else as 'they don't allow paralell downloads'. Nothing else is currently downloading. I've reset all cookies but still get the same message. I can't download any other videos at the moment as all get the same message.
What's going on? Is this a deliberate attempt to make me pay for fast downloads? In which case, I don't like being taken for a ride and will NOT be paying. I'm paid up for Oron and Rapidshare and can't afford yet another one...

I have ignored all Oron posts in the forums I visit for a long time. Filesonic used to be okay. Later you could only get one free download a day. Now I've completely given up on them as well.

Ive been coming to Gayheaven long enough to know that things change over time. There was a time Hotfile - working for me at the moment - didn't let me download anything for quite a few weeks. At the moment I have the same problem with Fileserve that a lot of ther people seem to have, and the same with Oron which I can also download nothing from. Perhaps it will all change again. It obviously depends where you are in the world. Perhaps it won't change and this is beginning of the end for poeple like me who enjoy, or addicted to - you pick the right word - to downloading stuff from this happy place.

Fileserve seems to be working again after several weeks of not working, at least for me.

Oron is working perfectly, at my top download speed. Filesonic doesn't work at all - just a small 1kb file that makes no sense. Fileserve is working as a free download, again quite fast. Rapidshare always works. So: it appears only Filesonic are messing me about, hence the original post: are they a rip-off?

How can something be a rip-off if you haven't paid for it?

Of course Oron works for you because you are a premium user on that file host. If you are going to compare Filesonic with Oron, compare them based on free download speeds.

When I download from filesonic, anything else that I am doing with my computer, navigating to webpages, even typing this, slows the download in jdownloader. This doesn't happen with the recommended filehosts. I'm wondering if Oron/Filesonic/Sharingmatrix is doing something that I don't want it to do.

Another thing with filesonic is that it stops completely and won't restart if I am downloading something else.

Well, filesonic on free option hasn't been to bad really in the past, but the last couple of days it's really gone up shit creek.... After inserting captchas (one of the most irritating things ever invented by man) it just hangs and nothing happens.

Unfortunately the same thing has happened with fileserve, I am just getting so f******** tired of putting in these damn ultra irritating captchas and all for nothing.

Hotfile also seems to be going downhill, downloads etc. are OK but noticed tons of files have been removed, due to copyright, etc.

This whole file sharing thing seems to be going down the pan...

And and don't even start me off on Oron, it's a bloody nightmare!

One thing I always fail to understand- why do people actually use these crap services? Gayheaven recommends Mediafire. I have tried it and it's very good- and FREE !!

Why do people then go and pay for utter shite like, Oron etc?

The thing is..whatever problems they have right now, they are pretty much the only option, as hotfile is being forced to delete virtually all of their uploads.

Ok, im going to explain several doubts i see around here.

a month , month and a half ago hotfile started mass banning uploaders accounts,thats why you find a lot of "this file no longer exist", all these uploaders migrated to other file hosters, mostly to filesonic and fileserve and both have been facing uploading/downloading issues since then

on top of that many servers were in Asia and with the whole Japan earthquake they are moving the servers somewhere else, sadly building a server takes time, was getting better but then the Earthquake happenned...

I know this because there are forum where these filehost have official threads and asnwer all kinds of doubts.
