Finally Pres. Obama is fighting back. We cannot sit back and let the republicants and the wack job tea baggers take this country back to the 1950's. Get out and vote. Get your friends out and vote this november. Ain't it funny how the tea baggers didn't do anything about Pres.Bush and the hole he dug with TWO wars?! Remember weapons of mass destruction? But now, OH the deficit! OH we wanna take our country back... (Translation) we only want white men running the government. We dont care if we step over the poor and hungry in our way. Religious freedom means only christianity.

The line is drawn. Time to buck up.

Actually I think the tea-bag-people are funny, it proves to us Europeans (hmm would they -the tea bags- allow it to say I am European when my skin is coloured *we prefer blue ourselves* as in Indonesian colour)? What the tea-bags say (it is sometimes hilarious) makes us laugh here from time to time, but I do realize it is a direct danger, not only in the Usa, because simple people all around the world believe them. All I can hope President Obama can find a way to beat them! Unfortunatly I am allergic to coffee or I would start drinking that instead of my herbal tea :)

I don't think Obama is "fighting back," certainly not against corporate economic control, social conservatism, or the war industry. His administration has continued and amped up the wars, refused to prosecute bush administration officials, and utterly failed to pass good legislation on the environment, gay rights, healthcare. The far right already controls our government. I don't like the teabag/trashbag people either, but when I vote, I'll be choosing green and independent candidates.

Agreed, except that I feel that candidates who don't align as either Democrat or Republican have such a small chance of winning. I feel that in most circumstances my vote would just be wasted on a candidate who has no possibility of being elected.

Man - you're throwing your vote away voting green/independent. Thats just what the RIGHT wants you to do. Things ain't perfect in the Democratic side, but at least you have a chance being heard on the Democratic side.

We live in a strange world. There is democracy, which means that the power is there where it should be, by the people. We can force politics to do what we want. Our power is our vote. But strangely people seam not to understand the value of that power. We act as consumers. Political parties use advertising techniques, use spin doctors, to gather votes. And we stupid consumers believe their messages. It is sad to see how we throw away our power. It is also sad to see that a man of principles like Obama has not the latitude to do what he really wants. Power corrupts, always and everywhere

Does the majority rule? or does the Constitution rule with three branches of government? We elect representatives to represent us, make law and direct policy in our behalf. Right? A REPUBLIC.

Funny though that the USA always talk about exporting their Democracy to the world.

How can you export something you don't have?

Voting for a platform I want to see put in place is not 'wasting' my vote; and after all, it is only when people drop their cynicism and take a chance that greens/independents can and do win. That is a lesson that should be learned by looking at the tea party; they aren't willing to blindly support mainstream republicans no matter what. I don't "have a chance of being heard" by the democratic administration/party; the responses to left criticism of the obama administration by people like gibbs, rahm emanuel (who called us 'retards') and barney frank (who said the national gay equality marchers were 'stupid') show that quite clearly.

These people listen to the corporate lobbyists that fund their million dollar campaigns and own the news networks. So I do agree; we don't have a democracy; there is nothing democratic about this country or that party, and the tea party is just a pathetic ploy to make you spend your vote on more war, poverty, inequality, and environmental destruction. Whether the tea party or republicans or democrats win, that's what we'll be getting. So maybe it's all a waste.

I'm an independent and I can understand some of the points of those in the tea party. I'm not talking about the radical Sharon Angles or Christine O'Donnells, but the ordinary, every day Americans who have issues with the way our government is run. Unfortunately those people are drowned out by the uneducated, misinformed and blatant liars who get the the majority of the attention.

I'm now really worried if you just don't know what you're talking or if you're kidding...

Does the majority rule? or does the Constitution rule with three branches of government? We elect representatives to represent us, make law and direct policy in our behalf. Right? A REPUBLIC.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

***Note, under God was added in 1954 in response to the Communist threat of the times. Francis Bellamy's daughter objected to it being added as it contradicts the separation of church and state...

And somehow, the part about "liberty and justice for all" has been lost in all the political bullshit...
