Finding 3 letter searches

Hi!

I'm hoping this can be pinned that depends on weather the admins like me or not. lol

I often struggle with 3 letter searches. 3 letters is not enough information for a search. CSM, YLJ and ASS all go out the window.

But you can go to Google and select "Advanced Search"

There you will have several options. Under "domain name" type: www.gayheaven.org

Now enter your 3 letter search, coupled with date options such as "within the last month" or "24 hours" and voila. You will now see threads with the 3-letter search you are looking for!

The forum needs 4 letters/characters minimum but you can get around this by adding * e.g for CSM search for CSM*... for ASS search for ASS* :cheers::thumbs up:

I tried using * but it didn't work for me. like "big* gay* men*" with and without quotes.

Hugmebear, was that on this search or Google Advanced Search? The 3-letters plus * on this search rarely gives me any thing.

It was here and intporn. Any xxx or xxx* were ignored in searches, even when quoted.

Guys wildcard and Boolean search needs to be activated on the forum and the database... but due to the version of this VB forum, this may not even be available.

The wild card option (*) is often quoted as being the answer to short searches. It sometimes works but usually not completely, and in my experience, it won't work with very common words. It also may get you a lot of useless hits. Don't count on it as the answer.

A couple of things hit me about this.

First, I am not sure that quotes around multiple terms actually performs as a search for the entire string (if that's what you meant).

Second, unless there are entries such as 'biggest' or 'gayboy' or 'menfolk', those particular terms wouldn't return anything anyway.

Would Regular Expressions work or would it be intercepted/ignored/treated literally? I ask this because I find quotes don't always.
