That sucks...:( Was the damage caused by a rising river or worse, raw sewage that backed up?

My town is in a valley along the river, an invitation for flooding if there ever was one. After we had the "Great Flood" of 1937 they built a flood wall (basically an earth berm about 15 ft. high) around the entire city to protect us from the rising river, effectively creating an earthen bowl with a city in the middle. The only problem is that they haven't properly upgraded the sewer system as the years have gone by so now instead of getting flooded by the rising river, when we get heavy rain, the sewers back up and fill the bowl...

This has been a source of great controversy here, because instead of fixing the sewers, like we voted to have done, the mayor is spending $300 million to build a new arena, that nobody wants...:butslap:

Maybe you guys should big for the SuperBOWL since, basically, you are one!! (a GEE GEE GEE!):p

(sorry I shouldn't make fun because we had our own flood disaster in '97 - wrecked my 1st house in fact and our downtown district burned down in a sea of floodwaters because of an electrical fire and when the fire department responded - they couldn't find the hydrants under 6 feet of water - no shit)

If you stop and think about it, when it rains real hard and the sewers back up and flood the town, it's no longer a bowl...

It's a Toilet Bowl...
