FREE - File Sharing HOST,..."Who's The Fastest"???

Hi Guys....spent the last three Saturdays evaluating a group of File Storage sites to determine who provides the BEST - FREE downloading SPEED to San Francisco, California USA. Here are my results:

File Host List: Depositfiles/Filefactory/MojoFiles/MediaFire/Oron/ZippyShare/JumboFiles/RapidShare/RapidGator/Hotfile

** I open New -- FREE Accounts at the above Storage Sites prior to initiating my EVALUATION-Test.

CRITERIA:
File Size:......100MB Video (7-Zip compressed)
Day:......Saturday ONLY (Weekends are generally busiest with Net Traffic)
Time:......Mid-Day (Between 12:00N and 1:00PM)
Browser:......Google Chrome
ISP:......TimeWarnerCable - RoadRunnerTurbo
Location:......San Francisco, USA (PDT)


FASTEST "DOWNLOAD" SPEED
(Best to Worst - Based on *TIME REQUIRED):
* Rounded to the next whole minute

Hotfile: 5 min.
MediaFire: 7 min.
MojoFiles: 9 min.
Oron: 11 min.
ZippyShare: 13 min.
JumboFiles: 14 min.
Depositfiles: 15 min.
Filefactory: 18 min.
RapidGator: 21 min.
RapidShare: 28 min.


I concede that there are many more HOST sites that may be better or worst than those I've evaluated. I must also acknowledge that internet traffic at your IP location will have significant influence in determining actual downloading SPEED obtainable.

btw: :thinking:If you're wondering who provided the quickest UPLOADING for this evaluation,.... it was FILEFACTORY---Very "Pirate Friendly"... but not so kind to their FREE Downloaders. (We all know about FF's stingy Access Allocations for Non-Premium users.).:butslap:

ZippyShare is the fastest for me (south Europe), downloading at an average speed of 850/900 Kb/sec.

Mediafire follows at an average speed of 500/600 kb/sec.

Yep Megaupload was the fastest for me, I downloaded at an average speed of 1000/1200 Kb/sec !

I agree -- free is free, and if I find a free download site too problematic, I just don't use it. Many times if you look around you'll find the same video posted by another member & available on some other host site. And if not, TBH there isn't a porn video in the world that I can't live without; I have enough porn to last me for the rest of my life anyway.

I do have an issue with RG as a PREMIUM user, though. If I'm downloading several videos at the same time, it's not unusual for RG files to get really slow & even to fail/stop in the middle, and that's even when other vids are downloading for free from other sites. I'm not happy about that AT ALL!

Whenever I download from Mediafire using J.Downloader I get about 1.3mb/s so I cant really complain, rapidshare's much slower but also with jdownloader I can just put a LOT of files in queue and dont have to worry about captcha overnight. Mojofile always breaks for me, so I gave up using it since I cant get it working on J, deposit and hotfile are ok, just really slow, but steady. Oron... I'd rather not use it cuz if it's a split file it can take the whole day to finish... RapidGator usually fail as well, cutting my dl in the middle, not really a fan.

Yep Megaupload was the fastest for me, I downloaded at an average speed of 1000/1200 Kb/sec !

Zippyshare also is favorable for uploading. For me it is about 3X faster than MF. I experience about the same speed you do downloading.

Mojo always breaks for me also, and sometimes RapidGator. I sould try J downloaders, I heard good things about it.

Yeah JDownloader's good cuz u can get all of your downloads queued and start whenever u want, without having to keep a lot of tabs open cuz u have to dl the files u want one at a time(which is bad when u're browsing a forum and find like 20 clips u want, movie of 2gb split in 100mb pieces.
