So I just started watching "Game of Thrones". Yes, I know I'm a little late. I'm only on Season 1; Episode 8, so don't spoil anything for me besides what I already know.

First off, just a few funny things. One of my favorite TV Shows is "Still Standing". It's a great comedy staring Mark Addy, who was King Robert Baratheon for the first eight episodes. It was hard not to still see him as Bill Miller, just as a King this time. Then there is Jason Momoa who is going to star in the new "Aquaman" movie that is coming out. It is definitely hard not to see him fucking his wife from "Game of Thrones" while watching an "Aquaman" trailer.

But getting back to the subject of "Game of Thrones": Does anyone else seem to think that this series is hypocritical of society because it was such a huge success of a series? Tumblr just turned off porn because "people don't want to see that", yet so far there is ton on nudity on GoT and I'm only eight in. There have even been a lot of references towards child brothels, even as the news is all a fire about the Catholic church.

To me it seems hypocritical since it seems like society denounces these things in every day life, but then seems to be entertained by the ideas in television and movies. I'm still going to watch the rest of the series for sure, but let's just say I was a little amazed at the content so far.

if you think the tv show is bad you should read the books they go into far more detailed descriptions.

Like everything. The uniqueness of the medieval/fantasy world fades over time and becomes more sanitized. The books are better but if you're dyslexic like me they take about a year to read.

As for your other point. I think there's a guilty pleasure in the forbidden and fantasy lets us explore it. Just look at fam1lyd1ck and related studios for example. And what were called bodice-ripper books. Objectivity these depict abuse and have been and still are popular.

I always figure if dont like it dont watch it--the thing about tumblr cancelling porn postings--once they lose a lot of customers they will reinstate it--andi figure if post on site there is pics of certain nature beyond a point of the web site visiting click yes to proceed no to go elsewhere--then people wont see what they dont wanna see--

there will be a revision on tumblr because if they lose viewers and customers the are losing the bottom line they are losing money-- and no money means bye bye website-- and im looking for new sites myself so anyone find any pass it on

Even worse, in the books the main characters are all way younger than in the TV series.

Rob Stark - 14
Jon Snow - 14
King Joffery - 11
King Tommen - 6
Bran Stark - 7
Sansa Stark - 11
Arya Stark - 9
Daenerys "Dany" Targaryen - 13

I never read the books, so had no idea.

I've been thinking about getting them for my "To Read" list for the summer.

Wow! Yea, that is a difference that what the show is depicting. I would have guessed Jon Snow in his early 20's; King Joffery about 16; Bran Stark about 11; Sansa Stark about 15 and Arya about 11.

The one thing that I dislike the most about books being turned into movies is the fact that they adjust the ages of the characters so much. I was supremely disappointed with The Maze Runner series because the characters in the movie were so different than the ones I had built up in my head. This is probably why I haven't seen the movie adaptions of The 5th Wave, The Mortal Instruments, or the Divergent series. Especially so for Divergent since I don't want to get my image and interpretation of Four spoiled.

One movie that I was happy with though (and wish the franchise would have kept going) was I Am Number Four. Though John was a bit different from the book, I thought that Alex Pettyfer did a good job at portraying him.

I haven't seen A Wrinkle in Time yet either. That was one of the first books I can remember reading, and the old worn out, torn up, version is still on my shelf.

Read the books first. If you have watched S1, you could start reading vl. 2 first: 'A Clash of Kings'

They got away with it for the first year or two... but then especially with the Starks the actors started to get older, but were struggling to play the part of someone much younger.

Only a minor quibble overall though. Clearly an excellent series.

I am glad ages were adjusted for the TV show. A 13 years old Daenerys having violent sex with Drogo is not exciting or just shocking: it’s disgusting and illegal. I wouldn’t be a fan for of the show in that case. Some written material cannot just be rendered as is. Otherwise G.O.T is the best show on TV: I cannot wait till April!:thumbs up: I even miss seeing Cercei’s snide pinched nose. :)

Thats probably my main issue with the books, the young ages. I usually ignore the book ages and replace them with the show ages.

characters in books younger than in show thats because we live in a society that acts like no one has sex until 18 but studies show majority of boys loose virginity by time 14 girls 15 to 16--

I'm deeply ashamed --- I've this series (seasons 1 - 7) in my collection but until today I couldn't find the push to take it and watch it. I think, when I read here all the enthusiasm, I/we should start it soon now. -:)
