Would appreciate suggestions on a free program to replace JDownloader. I posted elsewhere in the JD thread that's pinned that this is getting flagged in Spybot. Quarantine it and JD is not usable. Don't really want to take JD out of quarantine and risk it.

Good alternative for JDownloader?

Maybe an older version of JD will work?
Sometimes people who distribute their software include tracking data that is used for marketing. Usually the tracking is "harmless" but still is intrusive. They probably were offered money to add this tracking (if this is the case).
That being said, if you can find an older version of JD that still works, it may not have this issue with it.
I don't use JD so I don't know how it works really. Just offering my technical view

Thanks. I've had JD for a long time and it never showed up as a problem before. It's probably something when doing an update changed it along with other comments stating the same issues and not happy with JD's response.
JD is a downloading utility to help get multiple files downloaded at once with little attending to by users. I think I have a Firefox addition called FlashGot which captures streaming videos in Firefox and places them in JD for convenience.

I hope it stays that way for you, it's a good program I used for several years. I'd say make sure Spybot (Run as Administrator) is updated and run regularly, it seems like the JD complaints started a few months back. MalwareBytes and Microsoft Security Essentials didn't find anything.
Thanks for the mention on that. Some comments complained about adware but downloads2k checking it out says it's clean. Sounds less of a resource hog than JD.
