Good Thumbnail Software for Dummies???

I downloaded ImageGrabber, but it will not run at all on my laptop, which is Vista.

It will run on my desktop, which is XP Professional; however, I get error messages for some files when I try to create thumbnails, but not for others. When it works, it works fine, but it doesn't work at all for certain video files.

I'm not particularly facile with computer software. I can do some stuff, so I'm wondering if there's a simple-to-use freeware alternative to ImageGrabber for dummies like me?

I figured out VirtualDub all by my little self last night and edited two vids but could not thumbnail them, so hopefully I can get up to speed on a thumbnailer, too.

Okay, so I tried Video Thumbnails Maker. It won't work with AVI files, and I have so many of that variety.

KMPlayer does a great job with AVI files. I just did two (uploaded here and here -- NSFW) and they worked out AOK.

Bo's directions are fantastic for using the KMP player, BTW. :thumbs up:

KMP also processed thumbnails for ASF and FLV files perfectly with no problem. It will play but not thumbnail my WMV or MPG files; however, ImageGrabber usually works with them so it looks like I'm covered now.

The Boyfriend took the Vista laptop with him today, so I'll try installing KMP on that when he gets home.
