Hi there,

Why do you allow Google to Index all of this site?

The amount of bandwidth Google are using to index this site must be frightening

Blocking Google from indexing the site is easy and even Google have a page to help

I'm just trying to figure out if there is a way of blocking just my pages from Google using Google's instructions. But I bet I cant!

?

An old post but figured I'd ask since Google is how I found this site. I believe you mentioned your dislike of Google finding posts in another thread as well. Just curious, but what would be the problems that it causes?

The problems it would cause is help video companies find their work and do their best effort to have it removed.

But yer I guess for guys like you searching on Google for some nice smut and then stumble across a great place like GayHeaven.... It is the best thing that can happen

I can see both sides of the argument - but in my case I only found this site in the first place via Google. I can't even remember now what it was I was Googling, but I certainly wasn't searching for "gayheaven". Whatever it was was found in a post buried somewhere on the forum, not in the main gayheaven page.

As for making it possible for video companies to find and remove their stuff that's been posted, it may be heresy to say this but I actually don't have a problem with that. Posting commercial videos is, after all, a form of piracy. It's all very well to say the Net should be free and unregulated, but you shouldn't complain afterwards when studios go out of business or have to start charging more to legitimate users to cover the costs of piracy. This discussion came up recently regarding OTB, but the principle is the name no matter which company is involved.

Yea, very true.. works both ways doesn't? hmm.. up to the big-shots to decide then.. maybe by word of mouth/emails is enough to introduce people to the site? not worth the risk of video companies putting too much pressure to remove certain videos..
idk, just my thoughts..

OTB

I remember OTB commenting about that as well in a customer newsletter, but I can say several years back I was a paying subscriber to one of their sites. When they shut down most of their sites and decided to cut down releasing new stuff and move to download packages of the same old stuff they can expect a loss of business.

Good point there - as there truly is no such animal as a free and unregulated internet. The internet is a collection of connected computers. Everyone has costs in running them and in maintaining the inter-connectivity. Everyone has ownership of the stuff that they create, and universal law says that this ownership has the unique privilege of charging for or giving freely, the intellectual property that they own. All the whining about copyright vs freedom seems to instantly disappear, when the whiners suddenly find that THEY have been pirated. I observed this with a huge belly laugh the other day. Some freedom advocate was all bitchy about his quoted statement not being correctly attributed to him. Big ego problem, obviously. When someone else took him to task about shutting up....since HE was the one who said no intellectual property should be protected by copyright, you should have read the invective and nasty shit that flew from his keyboard.

Permissive folk rapidly become right-wing reactionaries when their own cars are stolen and vandalized, or their spouses and families are raped and mugged. Same story with copyright laws and their critics.
