Tough day for Japan - and China. Injuries are an everyday factor in this sport and can completely turn expected results on their heads.
On the other hand, the Brits and Yanks did pretty well - congrats! Looking forward to the medal rounds.
And now a salute to imaginary boyfriend du jour and "Pocket Olympian" - Jonathon Horton. Though he's the smallest guy on the team (5'1") he's the captain of the US Men's Gymnastics team, and he only veteran from Beijing.
After a lousy pommel horse rountine (which he only took on to boost the team into the finals), Johnny boy delivered an exceptional horizontal bar performance, which not only helped the team make the finals, but put him in competition for a medal in horizontal bar (and rings).
In a salute to Jonathon, anyone want to provide a caption to this photo of him with Fabian Hambuechen of the German team in 2008?
