That is very cool! I am very familiar with you Scottish kinsman, who came from Ayrshire, not far from my grandparents home. In addition to being one of the first Presidents of Princeton University, he uttered the famous quote when asked whether the country was ready for independence that it "was not only ripe for the measure, but in danger of rotting for the want of it."
(You have to hear that with a Scottish accent in your head to get the full impact.)
His arrival at the Continental Congress also helped prevent the Virginia Resolution from going down in flames. (And that would have been the end of the Declaration of Independence.)
He also gets a good part in the musical
