People were phoning in about this on a London phone-in radio station last night.
One comment was how bad it makes single people or those recently having a break up feel. One person said it was the most depressing day of the year.
Traditionally (or at least when I was younger) valentines were sent out anonymously to someone who attracted you. I certainly don't remember it as being something most people made a fuss over. The only competition between guys was how many cards they'd each received
As I said earlier, it's just a load of rubbish, a date on a calendar where you're enticed to spend money you don't have - gives the card & cuddly toy people a bit of a boost until Easter comes along! It's not a romantic day, a romantic day is something special done unexpectedly.
Ignore it - Take advice from an old cynic
