I know this thread could be in that sticky place... but wanted to start new one...
Guys honeslty did u ever think about doing that ?
I do.. I think about it quite often... Actually I like imaging that moment... I have been treated for depression 2 years, but 6 months ago doc thought I am healthy and I take no more meds...
But I am afraid the darkness is growing in my heart...

You must try to understand what fuels the darkness in your heart.

Fight it with the light of life.

Life is what it is.

It is we who make life sad or not.

Absolutely! I thought a lot about committing suicide. I love life, I always did, but when I would be hit by a terrible disease than I want to recognize when enough is enough. I will gather my family and friends and together with them I will have a good bye party. When the party is over, I will be gone, with a smile on my face.

Have I ever thought about it - yup.

I'm lucky I was in uni at the time, and that Student Services offered FREE councelling. That service could well have saved my life.

This is why the disastrous state of the US healthcare system so concerns me. You often hit your low point when you have little or no money - the fact that there are millions of shrinks in the US does not mean that those who need them can get to them, and I think it would be foolish to deny that that reality contributes to the high suicide rates among young men, and, to the mass-shootings that end with suicide.

I think it's very important that we all support mental health services to be sure everyone who needs help can get it. Healthcare is a right not a privilege! (I'm sure Romney would lump me into his 47% for being so humane).

The way America uses its prisons as a dumping ground for people who are not criminals but are too poor for medical help is also part of the obscene situation you refer to, gb.
And as a mod you must have noticed posts on this site, even this site where everyone is so nice, using perjorative terms like nut job and much worse when describing sufferers of mental illness when such terms would never be considered acceptable when used against sufferers of other illnesses.

I often see that word used, but never to refer to someone with an actual mental illness, but instead to refer to political extremists. Unless extremism is itself a mental illness I guess?

It is true that there is still a stigma surrounding mental illness, and that is tragic. When I hurt my foot I can tell people about it and they don't feel awkward, but when the malady is in my head somehow the rules are different :(

I do think about suicide a lot, but not sure if I think actually doing it all that much. Thought it was normal to think about it, we're all mortals and I'd like to think I have a plan ready if I wanna end it prematurily. And sometimes it can be quite comforting thought, to think about ending it all, to let your thoughts go to the very bottom of the well. It makes everyday life look a little better once again:)

I may have had those thoughts, but not anymore! I have a lot of debt to pay before I can die :p

Even if I'm not happy now, I'm sure I will find happiness sometime in the future.

I am clinically crazy. Have been diagnosed that way for most of my life. Major depression IS my life. Can't afford any more doctors visits, therapists or whatever. Have been off meds (not by choice) for many years now--can't afford them either.
Yes, I have thought about ending all the crap in my life. If I don't think about this once a week; something is desparately wrong. Or at least, not going normal. I always pull myself out of it now. I talk to my fleet of stuffed animals; the only ones in my life classed as family/friends. They are all I have. I am a recluse. I have roommates; but they have their own lives (& r all str8). Must push on to a brighter day, the one that only exists in DREAMS.

the thing is this--if you beginning to feel depressed again and feel need of help don't be shy to go ask doctor for help or see someone for help like a psychiatrist --we all get depressed some times in our lives but it is people like you and I that have a hard time living life without the need of some kind of pill to keep our minds level headed--and there is nothing wrong with that --whats wrong is not getting the help before these feelings get too much to bare if need chat feel free yahoo me in messenger and anyone else wants to talk lhardwick69 just say where got my name from so I wont hit ignore on you- as gay.com deleted chatrooms and don't have no one to chat to there from now on

There have been dire times of tribulation in which I have thought about suicide. Fortunately, I have a healthy fear of death on top of a great sense of reward for what grandness typically awaits whenever I successfully emerge from the tests and tribulations I have seen so far.

and as for thinking about it or trying it--after things that occurred to me when I was 16 I did try it--took a shitload of pills fell asleep woke up next day feeling like shit--apparently I didn't know what drugs to take to do the job right after that I didn't try it and kind of glad it didn't take--life may suck at times but it is worth living

I really should keep my mouth shut on this one, and for a number of days I've tried to do just that, but looking at the direction of this thread I need to say something.

I am totally unqualified to try to address your issue. someonealone, but it's important for you to realize that the vast majority of people do NOT contemplate suicide in any serious way, and I seriously believe that you need to get help. If you can't afford medical help and don't have a relative or friend you feel comfortable talking to, then find a support group or call a hotline (suicide, mental health, or even gay), who might be able to refer you to somebody.
