Hi Guys

I need some help here, apparently i switched my DVD drive settings to Region 1 (US and Canada) as i have some dvds for that region but now i want to switch back to my default region which is number 4 (Australia) but the system isn't letting me change it back, cause it says that i need to insert a proper disc for region 4 which i have, I have only chance left before it reaches 0 and it locks it to that region permanently,

I read that its possible to make the DVD drive region free so that it can play all discs, I found the tool that can create and make a backup copy of my dvd drive firmware which is "MATSHITADVD-R UJ-898 HE13" and after i created it, i flashed it with the RPC1 file that's mentioned in the filename and then restarted my PC and when i logged back into Windows 8.1 instead of MAC, and it said that my drive has no region protection on it, which means that it worked, but when i tried to play the DVD in VLC it loads the disc but nothing on the screen happens and with MPC-HC Player it sometimes says Copy Protection Fail or it does load the disc but the dvd screen picture becomes pixelated:( so i don't know if the RPC1 file the tool "MatshitaWinDump" created for me made a patch to the firmware or there's another tool i need to use (that i don't know of ) to get it fully patched:thinking:, but i now restored it back to the backup file firmware, just in case my DVD drive fails on me.

So i was wondering if anyone knows how to reset the DVD drive back to the default region or make it region free without me taking my Macbook Pro back to Apple to fix it?

Thank you very much in advance for help me & Have a Great Weekend!

I battled with this for a long time, and in the end, I found it easier and better for my sanity to buy a few cheap external DVD drives, one for each region!

Many DVD players have hacks that allow all region playing. Look here to start. I have done it with two different players and they worked a treat.

Hi ggold:heart:

Thanks for your Kind comment & sharing with me a link to a list on how to hack into dvd players to change the region code, I love:heart: it so much, that's so nice and kind of you, i just checked the list and sadly my PC DVD drive isn't listed on the site:( as its a Matshita brand, which is what Apple uses in there computers, but thank you for helping me with this problem. :)
