help with internet

I thinking about getting internet at home but I don't know what's good I looking at Hughes net here is the info

Is this any good I don't do online gaming, all I do online is shop, download porn,watch crafting videos on YouTube, research stuff, come here,Facebook, download games for my PlayStation. That's about it. Is 15GB a month enough

I gather that is satellite internet. I wouldn't know too much about that, about whether you might get a more competitive package elsewhere.

10 mbps is pretty good for downloading, but you say 'up to 10mbps', so if your speed is unreliable or if you end up with only a fraction of that speed, you will be disappointed. :thinking:

15GB is pretty low for all the things you do on the net. You could economise on the porn, but if you are using the PS store, and are looking to download the bigger games, well a single ps3 title could be 20GB, or a single ps4 title could be a whooping 50GB.

Maybe someone else here will have experience specifically with the package you are looking at. It seems like a lot of money just for the internet, so you want to be really sure they deliver what they claim.

I couldn't comment on what is best as I am not in the US but do you have any "comparison-sites" over there that deal with internet packages ?

Do you have the option for cable internet? I have Time-Warner, they bought out my old cable company, and while the service was shitty at first, it's greatly improved in the past year.

I've got digital cable TV with HBO/Showtime/Cinemax/Stars/etc.
DVR
Modem
Home phone
And 50mbs internet connection

Around $200 a month for everything...

But they do have just internet starting at around $15-$35 a month for a 15mbs connection...

That is close to wireless data pricing. For example, Verizon's XL data plan is 14Gb / $80. So if you already have a smartphone consider increasing your data plan for the phone, rather than add a new separate monthly charge for internet service. Most phones can act as a router to connect your laptop and other devices around your house.

Just a thought.

In the next few days I'll be upgraded to a 200mbs (yes, that's two hundred mega-bytes per second) internet connection for the same price...
