Help with Oron

I dunno why but recently whenever I try to download from Oron (as a free user) I get some random time until the next download becomes available, but then nothing happens, the timer doesn't decrease and even if I wait until the appropriate time has elapsed and refresh some random new time pops up. I dunno if I'm doing something wrong, but I've been trying for the last couple of days and still haven't been able to get to the 60 second timer. I tried using a proxy and that said I had 60 secs remaining but that timer didn't go down either. Am I doing something wrong? Or is just that Oron is a pile of shit?

The 60 second timer should count down - do you have any javascript blocking plugins on your browser perhaps?

Well the problem is the only time I have been able to get to a 60 second timer is when I used a proxy which is less than ideal. It don't think it's a browser issue as I've tried with Chrome, Firefox and IE all with the same result!

Then it's most likely an ISP issue. ISPs like to use transparent web proxies to save their bandwidth, but the down-side of this fuckwittery is that all their customers seem to come from the same IP for web surfing, so sites that control the flow of information based on IP address get broken.

I'm no more of an Oron fan that yourself and many others on this board, but that's no reason to lie to people. Oron works, so if it's not working for someone, then it's something between them and the Oron servers, probably their ISP.

Where is your evidence Oron works for most downloaders? Even those who sign up for the premium service can too often have problems downloading. In my case, using a proxy or VPN to cirvent any possible ISP blocking shows Oron up for what it is - the utter crap brmstn69 rightly says it is.

Don't accuse people of doing something they didn't do, simply because you choose to deliberately misconstrue what they write.

I used to believe that it was my ISP blocking access to Oron. Not any more. It's all too similar to how Rapidshare chose to do business.

When free users complained that they couldn't download, Rapidshare came out with the excuse: 'Not our fault. You are being blocked by your ISP'. It was a lie. It was Rapidshare blocking access by free users whenever and wherever it could.

When Rapidshare shot itself in the foot and changed its uploader payment model, business hit the buffers. Suddenly, it was desperate for traffic as uploaders and subscribers left in droves. In an instant, all the problems free users had encountered, problems Rapidshare had consistently claimed were 'entirely the fault of ISPs', simply fell away. Isn't that odd? :thinking:

Oron works - I use it all the time - that is proof enough that the problem is between that person and Oron, not at Oron.

This kind of fanatical reactionary baseless hate-mongering really pisses me off. It's not like you need to stoop to that crap to make valid criticisms of Oron!

Brmstn69s offers the contrary opinion that restricted free-user access to Oron downloads is nothing to do with ISPs. You accuse him of lying to people. Who, exactly, is hate-mongering here?

That fact that Oron works for you is proof of nothing other than that Oron works for you. Without proof it works for most free users and the access problem is not mostly (if not wholly) of Oron's own making and not one applied to different markets as Oron sees fit, all you are left with is an opinion and your opinion is no more valid than anyone else's. Has brmstn69 stooped so low as to accuse you of lying to people?

In truth, I find you quite vile. I asked where brmstn69 had lied in his post. There are only two lines in it. When challenged, you never address any direct questions put to you, you just resort to bluff and bluster. You cannot provide proof brmstn69 lied because there is no proof, is there?

He didn't lie. Have the decency to apologise to the man.
