How Do You Rate in the Kitchen?

There is a lot of talk here, of course, about how big is your cock, how good are you in bed, and what's your wildest sexual fantasy. But the most important question is, how good are you in the kitchen? I'm learning. And if you ever visit my homepage blog, you'll see I have a big interest in food. I think that is one reason Nick stays around. He likes to joke that I'm fattening him up for the kill.

What the Survey Was Supposed to Be

Damn, I did it again! The first post was supposed to be a survey. And the 2nd one I don't know how I hit submit. Here is what the survey was supposed to be:

How Well Do You Rate Yourself in the Kitchen?

1) Look Out Gordon Ramsey!
2) Nobody's Died From My Cooking....Yet
3) Me and the Microwave Are Best Friends
4) Where Did I Put the Delivery Menus?
5) I Think I'll Just Go Hungry Tonight

Next time I'm marking the survey box FIRST!!

Not sure I see myself in any of those options - lets say somewhere between 1 and 2.

My hubby is coeliac, so the vast majority of processed food is out because it almost all has gluten in it, and the specialist processed food that's gluten free tends to cost a bloody fortune! Because of this I have become very good at day-to-day wholesome food. As well as avoiding gluten, I'm under doctors orders to cut down on salt, so I've become very good with flavours to avoid the need for salt.

I also have a few fancy dishes I'm good at, but my repertoire is not the broadest when it comes to the fancy stuff TBH. But - what I can do, I can do bloody well - people love being invited to dinner here :)

The objective of my cooking is to keep us fed on a negligible budget. Nobody would be impressed by the results but we are both still alive.

I'd say I'm between 1 and 2, with my "experimental kitchen" ;)
I also love to bake and nowadays my favorite thing is making cakes.

I'd say 1, but for other reason:p And what comes to cooking skills, it's 2. If someone would die because of my cookings, it would brolly me be, and it wouldn't the foods fault. I'm good with knife (I can even throw a knife;)) but slicing vegetables... I always do it hastily and carelessX_X

I would say that I am about a 6 or 7 in the kitchen. I took a course back in high school and my late partner was really good at cooking and so I've learned some things from him. However, since I've been spending a lot of time with his mom, she has taught me how to bake a little...so I am improving with that...in fact...here's a pic of a banana cream cake I had made last month....sorry...not compute savvy and do not know how to resize the pic..so if anyone knows how ...feel free if you can and do so...thanks

Hopefully that helped? / Whisper

Dinner Tonight

That's a good looking cake! I have a HUGE sweet tooth. The more chocolate the better. But tonight it's us and the oven with lasagna from Stouffer's. But this weekend I'm diving in and making home made chocolate chip cookies for us, and taking half into the store.

I live with two boyfriends, and one is from Indonesia, and he gets very happy (and cooperative...) if I cook food from his home... so I can cook Oriental food quite well. But I am rubbish with cakes. Yesterday I made a sort of hot fish soup with tamarind, steamed chicken dumplings, prawns with lime and chilli, beef rendang (a sort of dry curry with roasted coconut), vegetables in coconut and prawn sauce, fired rice, and a banana desert with red beans. It did the trick...

I do all the cooking at home. Everyday meals and holiday meals alike. Snacks and desserts. Asian or French. Never saw it as a chore. Learnt the basics from my mother who was a great cook.

I was an active member of e-gullet until I noticed that a majority of members were wannabes trying too hard to turn out perfect French macarons without learning how to separate egg whites and yolks first.
