Again thanks for shining the light on this subject. I guess their motivations are as varied as every snowflake from the sky. Finding out their motivations is my way of putting a human face on these people. Aside from being free, one reason I'm drawn to amateur cams is the live conversation. The cammers are the closest thing to a porn star that I am able to get to communicate. And like you said, the porn industry is all fantasy; the truth never make it out of the cutting room floor. Agreed! Being a porn star has nothing to do with self destruction or low esteem. Although I would say that some people have been wrongly introduced in the industry for obvious reasons such as; drugs, psychological and or physical violence etc., but unlike the fact that being gay isn't a choice, a prostitute or a porn star from both camps gays and straight have the choice to leave or stay. It's not like one was predestined to become a porn star or a prostitute because of what happened in their childhood. When problems occur in one's life, that individual has few possible exit and becoming a porn performer isn't one of them.

Those views saying that porn stars become porn stars because they are psychologically broken are just putting stigma to degrade the entire profession. A pretty appalling view to be honest. Ever if they don't do it for the money, it doesn't mean anything. Why can't someone genuinely like to do it? Ever if it's just in front of tens of fanatics?

I want to point out however though, that some people do feel they cannot leave because 'that's all I know' or 'I've been doing this for so long' or there could be people who cannot get into other industries for fear of having people recognised them or rumours. When someone is entering the porn industry, they should be fully aware of the consequences this will do to their reputation for the present and in the future, when the time has come that one has (not wants) to leave, that's when reality will hit them hard on the face and although many may claim that they regret nothing, they're not old enough yet to realize all those consequences. And one cannot work forever in the porn industry.

Brent's case as you mentioned is quite unfortunate. I think females would be better actually. I don't really know much about western stars (as I don't watch films and our media don't always report them like they do with local stars, whom I also do not follow), but in Hong Kong for example, numerous big, or even highly respectable female film stars were actually some sort of (mild) pornography stars, and they do have the stigma around them. They needed to work very hard, get awards with very good box office scores for years to get the respect they wanted. But they could indeed do that cuz I think female stars tend to be sexualized in popular culture anyway.

Well I agree to a certain level, but women in porn and gay guys in porn are not to be compared. As much as women and men are not to be compared on many professional fields since there is quite a lot of inequalities.
