I have no idea what others think about my age. I don’t asked them and I don’t care anyway. For me the two major questions are: how old do I feel myself and can I accept that?
Nature has a strange rhythm. First it does a hell of a job to create a beautiful person and when it is perfect it starts to destroy everything. “For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return” is the Christian description of this phenomenon.
When I was young there was so much physical beauty (I was not bad looking), that it’s value seemed low. Now I am old (65) it has become past and practically out of reach.
Economically you would expect that the value of physical beauty would rise in that case. For some people that is true. They spent a lot of money to look younger.
I wouldn’t spend a dime for such things. I accept my physical body, at least for its looks. I do everything possible to keep it fit, so I can do as much things as possible.
When you get older your mind gets more and more important. That is the only part of your body which you can keep young. A mind is like a parachute, it only works when it is opened. I talk a lot with youngsters. It is so refreshing to see what keeps them busy. I admire their energy and perseverance, and of course their looks. Surrounded by so much beauty it seems of no importance that mine vanished.
Cogito ergo sum, I think, so I exist ( Descartes).
