Just thought I'd try a generic type thread so you can post about how your day went, and what you are up to at the moment.

For me it was just boring work! Wasn't unpleasant but can always think of better things I could be doing lol :p

Tonight I'm listening to radio over the internet, having a can of beer , and just relaxing on the forum :)

What about you? ;)

Mine was AWFUL! I had to babysit a meat head and a self-absorbed gay who were drunk off their asses while they were over at my house. Yuck lol.

holy SH*T you guys...check THIS clip out. It's NOT the party Glam was hosting but HE MENTIONED a MEAT HEAD and this clip is spot-ON!!!

For all my buddies outside the US who don't know...this is a clip from a US sit-com from the 1970's called "All in the Family" which was WWAAAYYYY ahead of it's time...ENJOY!!! (and forgive the clothes - they're 70's middle class and HIDEOUS!!:)

This was the American re-make of a very famous UK series called "Till Death us do Part" which went along the same lines.

What some people didn't get was that the joke was always on the racist/sexist bigot and some only concentrated on the rubbish he spouted. It was actually an anti-racist anti-prejudice show, showing up these people for what they are. I think our version was far grittier.

I remember seeing the US version (it was shown over here) and at the time (being quite young) never realised it was based on ours, Archie being somewhat more polished than our dear old Alf Garnett :p

You're totally right X - our show was based on yours but (as the clip shows) it was pretty rough on bigots on BOTH sides of the pond because, as you pointed out, it DID show them as they were but you also knew where they where coming from because you grew up in that atmosphere but this show made you say...whoa? Is THAT how I look and really HOW I think??? (This was a time when TV actually challenged your mind instead of just feeding it cotton-candy or as WE call it in 2009 - Reality TV - total garbage IMO!)
