This morning I've read in my Sunday-Paper that in a supermarket a 66 year old man suddenly broke down and died. Shocked customers alerted police and accident ambulance. It lasted 15 minutes until they arrived.

The staff of the supermarket built around the man a wall of beer cases as a privacy shield. The ambulance arrived and the doctors fighted 30 minutes for the life of this man - but they lost their fight. During all these time the boss of the supermarket was not willing to close the shop because of the loss of customers and money. And that will be the "best" - there have been customers who kvetched because they couldn't go to the potatoes because this man died in front of the potatoes!

Where is HUMANITY in our society?

They built a beer wall and tried to save the man's life.
Some people there behaved as they should.

I think I want a beer wall in my last hours.

Just remember that for every example of a grade-A ass-hole like the manager described above, there is a person selflessly helping others, and probably more than one.

Remember that our news media is strongly biased towards bad news because it sells better. The world is nowhere near as buggered as the news would have you believe.

Where is HUMANITY in our society?

Good question, whose answer can be given by civil society of today, that is increasingly geared towards the economy and the money.

This phenomenon has also been the study of some universities. The more a person is enriched more becomes narrow-minded and insensitive.

Taking into account of course exceptions.

Is humanity dying??? Absolutely not, and I'll give you an example why it isn't so.

Right now we've got the biggest forest fire in modern times Sweden in the province of Västmanland, some 250 kilometers to the southeast from where I'm at right now, and the fire has been raging for more than a week. We have some 150 firefighters working day-and-night, and fighting a gigantic forest fire is tough, exhausting and downright dangerous work. And we've got special help from France and Italy with special aircraft for waterbombing and specifically educated pilots to fly those waterbombing airplanes. We are very grateful for all this help from Italy and France and in particular the italian and french pilots.
So humanity is dying? Bollocks. Crap.

The firefighters are non profit. They can concentrate 100% on saving lives, protecting property and helping humanity. They are also brave and dedicated to public safety.
The shop manager is in a business that is dedicated only to the profit it makes. However nice a person the manager is he, is leaned on by the manager above him and the one above that one, screaming for more profit.
Don't be too hard on the manager, he is only a wage slave like everyone else who works in the store.
A long time ago there were for-profit fire brigades. You had to pay a fee for protection. If your subscription was out of date, the fireman would stand and watch as your house burnt down. That's the kind of public service ethos neocons would like to bring back.

I work in a supermarket and a couple of months ago a woman of about 90 collapsed in front of my meat counter. As a former ambulance driver and medical dispatcher, I have some training and I got my boss who is also an EMT to assist, which was awkward as he was being interviewed by a local TV news crew about a fund raiser we sponsored and I interrupted him on camera. Also we had a deli worker who is moonlighting from her day job as a nurse and a customer who is also a nurse help out. I even went so far as to raid the pharmacy department for supplies like a blood pressure cuff and heart monitor. I'd say we did everything we possibly could do for her, but we didn't close...

BTW, she lived. And let this be a reminder, never take antibiotics on an empty stomach...

Hi Brmstn69 - Thank you so much for your input, it was really so very interesting. It shows me that angels are on earth to help where it is needed. So humanity will not die but sometimes carelessness decides our life. Thanks for your report.

Yeah, I was thinking this way the other day after watching some E! channel. These shows like the kardashians, rich celebrities, etc, only teach the viewer to be more self centered and just thinking about me, me, me...
