When I consider the fearful horrors that happen every where I look it seems like the universe was created by a sadistic voyeur. I know there is happiness and joy as well but that doesn't erase the pain and suffering.
I'm no scientist but I've seen, heard and read how some scientists describe the nature of existence. From biological life to stars, galaxies and black holes everything has to endure the pain of birth and death. Black holes devour galaxies full of stars. Stars create planetary systems that will one day either be devoured by the star, obliterated by the death of the star or expelled into inter-stellar space to die a frozen death. Biological life has an even harder row to hoe.
All biological life exists in the food chain. Eat or be eaten is the order of the links in that chain. Most creatures live in fear of predators. Even those predators live in fear of others higher up in the chain. Fear, pain and suffering are the units of trade in the chain.
The simpler forms of life that derive their energy directly from the sun like plants are the least horrifying in the food chain. They live and die without stalking and killing some other creature for food.
If I created the universe it would have much less fear, pain and suffering. The food chain would be much simpler. All biological life would feed on the energy from stars. The stars provide so much energy there is no need for all the carnage. When the star dies there would still be plenty of carnage to give pleasure to the sadistic creator if required, lol.
I'm not a vegan or vegetarian if that's what you're thinking. I eat flesh. But I do feel empathy for the creature whose flesh I eat. I thank them for their sacrifice that allows me to go on living. That is the least I can do.
If I had to harvest my own meat I would eat less and probably be better for it.
I just don't like the idea of all the creatures on earth living in fear and enduring pain and suffering. The sadness of losing those close to us when they die is enough pain.
Not sure why I got off on this tangent today. I think the sausage I had for breakfast got me thinking...
