just a quick thought..If you could be anything in the world, what would it be? and why?

and I mean ANYTHING: a rock, a song, a person, a place, a time, a tree..anything

ill answer first (to jonny...lol) ill keep it organic, an owl, they are beautiful and fly soooo gracefully, and i think there smart too....lol

It's as far as I ever want to go. I'd hate to be recognised, it's not my idea of fun.

I'm happy being me actually, I'd certainly not want to be a tree LOL

I'd still choose to be human, but I would like to be someone born in Great Britain. Has A very good English Accent. and has a cute boyfriend. sigh!

Can I ask why? (being born in Britain I mean).

I do think this is the best country in the world, but I would, but what are your reasons for wanting to be British?

You WILL love it. I'll even offer to take you around places. My fave place in the world is actually Scotland, even though they call us all sorts of things, but it's such a great country.

For a small island we do have such wonderful treasures, sadly we're being swamped with immigrants, but that's the world changes. It's always been that way, but too much all at once is not exactly good. It's breeding resentment and hatred, & I can't disagree in some ways.

If you get an influx of a completely different culture then what can you expect?

Yes I know. I was in LA last year and it was just like home with store workers not able to speak proper English! LOL

The locals had a similar view we do over here.

Spanish is fast becoming the 2nd language of the USA (if not the first!!)

I hope nobody takes any of this as racist, I'm totally against racism for the record, it's a completely different matter. One has to be so careful these days so as not to offend, and that's never my intention. I don't believe it's racist to want your own culture & society to stay the same.

I know a very enlightened lady who came over here from Africa. She has exactly my view and believes that "when in Rome....etc" .

L.A. is one thing being right on the border with Mexico you'd expect a high number of immigrants, just like Texas. Florida and N.Y. have alot of Cuban immigrants, but I'm in the mid-west (Indiana) nowhere near a border or port, and the Hispanic population here has grown by 300% in the last ten years. I have nothing against them, but you can't even get a job in a resturant around here unless you speak Spanish. Whats funny is the most outspoken person against immigration that I know is my cousins wife,(Sela) whose from Panama. Most people think that if you marry an American you automatically get US citizenship, thats just not true, you get a permanent resident alien visa. In order to get citizenship, you must first passs a battery of test that 90% of the people born here can't even pass. Sela taught herself English, studied and passed all the test and now works for a large bank where she's incharge of the fraud department for all the Latin American accounts. After all she's done to become an American citizen she can't stand illegal immigrants and if she goes to a store or a resturant and the clerk or waiter dosen't speak English, Watch out...

We have tests now for anyone wanting to become British. I have doubts how many naturally born Brits could actually pass it!!

Central London now is like a foreign country, broken English, if they speak it at all.

Movement of people around the globe is nothing new, but sometimes it builds resentment if it's too big an influx in one area, and I think that's starting to happen. Being in the EU we have no barriers anymore against anyone from the whole of East or West Europe from settling anywhere on the continent. Although in essence I don't have a problem with that it can cause and does cause tensions.

I won't go into the influx from further afield!!

If we're talking of not being a human, but something imaginary, I would like to be wind. I can freely fly everywhere, I can touch and feel everything. I have a power and no one can catch me or destroy me. Isn't it great?!
