It seems that people in this thread take for granted, the belief necessarily is religious belief in some god or gods - well, that's not the case.

That belief must be religious is totally unfounded. Belief is an epistemological mode, and the full set of modes are - following Kant - meaning, believing, and knowing. (Or in Kant's German lingo : Meinen, Glauben, Wissen.)

The difference between belief and meaning is, that belief has a subjective necessity that meaning hasn't, while the content of knowledge has an intersubjective necessity, i.e. necessary to think for everybody.

In question of religious belief I'm a secular humanist, just like slimjim.

I'm not a believer in sense of the church - but I believe in GOD or in a "superior being" - and yes from time to time I have been praying as well (for instance when my mom got her diagnosis breast-cancer). And I'm not ashamed for.

I don 't need the church as an institution - but I need to believe.

I don't hope the community of GH will condemn me because of my "coming out".

Well Shelter I for one think that no one has the right to condemn anybody for speaking there mind, If that is what you believe, then we should all respect you for it.
Religion has been responsible for far too many deaths of Innocent people who want to follow their own beliefs, so I do not partake in any following other than in a "christian" sense, look after your fellow man/woman/ child in the way that you would want to be treated. Alas it seems in this world many do not share my following, but that does not stop me from travelling through life in a proper decent manner.
Being Gay for me is in fact a god send, so the church can go to hell, as they are not true Christians, especially in the way that they treat Gay or lesbian people, although of course in the strictest biblical terms lesbianism doesn't exist in the terms of its propaganda.
Whoever wrote the biggest drama fictional story way back then,and called it the bible,:rofl: obviously knew how to spin a good yarn and good earner which eventually sold so many copies it became a world best seller.
Unfortunately X_Xthey didn't expect the church to pick it up and make them the richest beings on earth, owning more property and wealth than anybody..

No one can (or should be allowed to) condemn a human being for his faith. Everyone should keep that in mind, when you take a look around the world. Not that this really helps. Especially not in Syria and Iraq. But here, still ...
