If I take 1.5 cups of flour with 11.7% gluten and .5 cups of flour with 7% gluten and combine them what is the total percentage of gluten?

i did this that way:
11,7% of 1.5 is 0,1755 and 7% of 0.5 is 0,035.
that makes 0,2105 in 2.0, and that is 10,525%!

edit: yep same as slimjim

Its weird I can do geometry and some trig but I can't do percents and fractions. lol

I do a lot of baking which is very scientific gluten content is very important.

yeah...gluten is important if you`re celiac....

Just I'm a really big perfectionist when I bake. I plant to make a career out of baking. Open up my own bakery. Close enough isn't good enough for me. I've always thought about cooking naked but never had. Hmm The Naked Chef.:thinking:

Lol with baking you have to be a perfectionist because it has to be the exact amount of the specific ingredient or it won't turn out right, its just like how some may say, cooks aren't mathematicians or scientists but bakers are because it has to be precise :)

Actually it's not weird at all, it's rather common.
I'm sure I won't state this correctly, but am sure someone here will correct me.
I was the opposite. Algebra was so easy for me it was ridiculous.
But the simplest geometry problem I couldn't do.
What it amounts to is algebra is right there before you. You have the numbers, or equations and you just put it together to get an answer. But in geometry you have to imagine these shapes and figures before you which are more or less transparent.
OK, now I've confused myself~X(.
Algebra just uses one hemisphere of the brain, and geometry uses both? Or something like that. You have to be more artistic for geometry.
OK, OK, so it was a long time ago when it was explained to me, so now I can't explain it properly,
But since I've laid the ground work, Integritas0, or Newage will give us the correct answer.:p
