Percentage of that $280tn controlled by that 00.7% = 46%

Percentage of that $280tn controlled by me = 00.0000000000000000000000000000000000%

This hard for me to imagine ......I'm not doubting that it's true but I don't understand how it's possible. I just assumed someone would either die or have major heath issues if they never slept

Paul Kern, the Man Who Didn’t Sleep for 40 Years

Paul Kern, the Man Who Didn’t Sleep for 40 Years

From unrealfacts dot com

Sleep deprivation. Parents of newborn babies know the trauma all too well, and some military forces and covert government agencies use the deprivation of sleep as a tool for torture. While most of us can go for a few days without sleeping, when we do many of our functional abilities become extremely disadvantaged. Some people have even likened it to severe intoxication. So could you imagine absolutely no sleep at all or a week or two? How about a month or more. If you tied, your body would eventually force t=you to sleep, you’d have no choice. One man however could not sleep, even if he tried. That man was Hungarian Paul Kern, who had no sleep for 40 years. That’s right, for 40 years, Paul Kern couldn’t sleep, and became the subject of both folk lore and song. So how did this happen?

You may have read already about the Vietnamese man who has claimed that he has not slept since 1973. In that case his claims have not been verified by independent medical professionals. There is however another medically recorded incident where a man has gone decades without sleep. Paul Kern was a Hungarian soldier who fought during World War I. While he was serving on the front line he was shot in the head by a Russian soldier. The bullet removed part of his frontal lobe. After he was shot he was taken to Lemberg hospital, and once he woke from his injury he never slept again. A professor at the university of Budapest treated Kern for his condition, but was never able to determine the reason for his abnormality.

Paul Kern died in 1955, some 40 years after he suffered the gunshot wound that changed his life forever. He was the basis for a song by the American folk-pop band The Dimes who wrote a song called “Paul Kern Can’t Sleep”.

Bonus Fact:

Paul Kern isn’t the only person to have suffered this weird condition. A farmer from Vietnam has claimed that he has not slept since 1973. He said he came down with a fever one day and since then he hasn’t been able to sleep. Doctors have checked him over and said he suffers from sever insomnia. They also say his health is otherwise fine. One thing they have not done is check out his claim to see if he is authentic.

From Wikipedia:

Insomnia, also known as sleeplessness, is a sleep disorder where people have trouble sleeping. They may have difficulty falling asleep, or staying asleep as long as desired. Insomnia is typically followed by daytime sleepiness, low energy, irritability, and a depressed mood. It may result in an increased risk of motor vehicle collisions, as well as problems focusing and learning. Insomnia can be short term, lasting for days or weeks, or long term, lasting more than a month.

Insomnia can occur independently or as a result of another problem. Conditions that can result in insomnia include psychological stress, chronic pain, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, heartburn, restless leg syndrome, menopause, certain medications, and drugs such as caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Other risk factors include working night shifts and sleep apnea. Diagnosis is based on sleep habits and an examination to look for underlying causes. A sleep study may be done to look for underlying sleep disorders. Screening may be done with two questions: "do you experience difficulty sleeping?" and "do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep?"

Sleep hygiene and lifestyle changes are typically the first treatment for insomnia. Sleep hygiene includes a consistent bedtime, exposure to sunlight, a quiet and dark room, and regular exercise. Cognitive behavioral therapy may be added to this. While sleeping pills may help, they are associated with injuries, dementia, and addiction. Medications are not recommended for more than four or five weeks. The effectiveness and safety of alternative medicine is unclear.

Between 10% and 30% of adults have insomnia at any given point in time and up to half of people have insomnia in a given year. About 6% of people have insomnia that is not due to another problem and lasts for more than a month. People over the age of 65 are affected more often than younger people. Females are more often affected than males. Descriptions of insomnia occur at least as far back as ancient Greece.

Real sleeplessness is vanishingly rare, most of those who think that they got no sleep did get some without realising it. It is easy to be tormented by some worry at two am, doze off, and wake again at six with the same troubled thoughts, convinced that your worries had continued without a break. Sleep starvation becomes self correcting for most people, if you are tired enough you start to drop off anywhere, in a crowded bus, in a noisy factory, I've seen someone fast asleep in an ear splitting rock concert. Now if you'll excuse me, yawn, I've just got to have a lie down.
