One of many things I hate is People who go to a gym, pool etc and do nothing. As a regular user it amazes me that after paying one way or the other they don't use it properly.Sitting on exercise bike cycling slowly and reading the paper, texting, talking on phone. One even had a laptop on the bike. These people lift too heavy weights then have to sit in gym and get in the way of others as they recover. Then there are the non swimmers.Walking in pool, having discourse on the coming day with other non swimmers. Some quit after a half a lengh. All these morons obviously crow to their friends later"I went to the gym this morning"

i use to go to the gym but all the nuisances finally made me buy a gym machine and some weights. it is very convenient now for me to do my exercises alone and at a time i choose. there are no prima donnas there either. but as you stated socialization is very important for some.

My gym is open 24 hours, so I go when it is least busy, between midnight and three in the morning.

There's annoying poeple at the gym, but fun people too. Just like everywhere else, but fitter.

I tried the home gum approach...just didn't work. There was always something else to do...like chatting with you.

I now do gym by schedule. On gym day, I don't go home. Right to the gym. I may be dragging my ass when I get there, but I perk up with the exercise and the cute boys.

Personally, I don't give a sh*t about what anyone else does in a gym. All I am concerned with is my form and my style. I don't care if they are on a laptop or eating an ice cream cone. I go there for me not them. It does sort of suck when I see bad form lifting weights but if you try to coach them you mainly get an adverse reaction if you mention it. In time, I found it was best to just let them do as they choose.:?

Well I don't know what it is with Gyms, but I just hate them. My morphology wasn't obtain by lifting weight, running on a treadmill or mimic kayaking. I lift weights by cutting woods and prepare it for winter, I help my farmer friends with the seasonal train (that's a lot of a exercise in a day starting at 5 am to dawn), I ran in country trails, I did canoe and real kayaking every morning (even before going to school), I did horse back riding for many years, did martial arts and gymnastic for many years for which my shape is a martial art fighter (I'm not super buff, but I am super strong). Every summer I'm on my inline skating, doing bike (real one not stationary) and so on and so forth. Gyms are maybe good in a city, but in the country we so don't need them. Nature provide all that you need to shape your body. I shaped my skinny babe body to a martial art body and he now have the most beautiful pecks and ass nature can make... I never was attracted to overly buff guy, to me it doesn't look natural;)

I am now giving martial art and self defense course to pretty much who ever want to learn (for free) and it's not based on lifting weight, it's based on repetition, precision and endurance. One can look very buff but can he runs 800 meters 3 time without a sweat? I doubt it;) I loath gyms:cheers:

I have some basic home gym equipment, but I have not used it in ages. There is no way I can get a workout of the same quality that I can at a properly equipped gym, not unless I laid out enough money to duplicate a significant fraction of the equipment at the gym - and then I would not have the room to keep it.

As for those who you say are wasting their time in the gym.... I agree, they probably are wasting their time, not to mention their money, if bodybuilding and/or fitness is their goal. Still, look at it this way: their membership fees are helping to keep the place open and operating for you. :)

I once did a fitness instructor course when I was toying with the idea of going into that as a job. The lecturer told us an astonishing statistic - that out of the people who take out "Life Memberships", the average time for which they attend the gym is SIX WEEKS. That's the AVERAGE. Some people with long term memberships do continue to use them for years, so that means there are a very large number who only go once or twice, or perhaps not at all. Those suckers' membership fees are in effect subsidising the rest of us who do make the most of the place. Still it's hard to feel much sympathy for them, because it was their choice to join, and their choice not to follow through.

By the way, clubs in this country are now prohibited by law from selling "life memberships", following a number of high profile collapses of health club chains. Life membership was supposed to mean for the life of the client, but in practice it tended to mean the life of the business - often a much shorter life than was envisaged.

No. Because I don't go to the gym. :D

I'm not gonna give money to exercise. A long run in the
beautiful nature. And some strength home training.
.. and of course a healthy diet. :)

Your morphology is what you are born with. Your current physical shape is the outcome of what you have or have not been doing with your given morphology.

I usually choose times to go to them gym when it's least busy, and usually it's a time that fits me well so all the equipments are often available. But even during the busy times, it's not hard to get one since my gym is quite big in comparison to the amount of members that actually go there. As for the ones that go there but only lift weights once or twice and then spend the rest of their time staring at people, I don't care much about. As long as they're not in the way, it's their choice to waste their money on the membership. :p

I live in a small town with no gym, other than the University Rec. It gets crowded there and the only thing I don't like about it is how crowded and appealing it is. The guys are hot. And if I see a guy that's hot, there's no way I'm not going to look. -Which guys pick up on. Then they get all huffy because some 'gay guy is looking at them', even though if a hot chick walks by them, they look just as I'd look. No dif.

My one city trip to a gay gym, well a Baily chain (much dismissed by serious gay body builders) was a blast. First, me and my friend sauna. And this really, really hot guy comes in and sits with us. Boing! Latter, we take a dip in a hot tub and there he is again... It was nice to be able to 'look' at a guy without the guy freaking out that some guy was looking at him.

Later, we hit the showers. My friend does the multiple head shower, while I demurely take to a single stall. Just as I walk out of my stall, my favorite bar 'crush' comes walking out of the group stall. I had been flirting with this guy for 3 years... and suddenly here he is in front of me stark naked. More hung and more beautifully handsome than I'd even imagined. We stood there talking for 10 minutes at least. I got harder and harder as the conversation went on. Finally I had to cut it short. People were starring. I was at full attention soaking in the moment.

Never ran into the guy again. But I never had more fun picking up heavy things and putting them down. If I lived in the city, with a gay gym -I'd be a beast!

As for sharing equipment, I'm not all that thrilled either way. If they're reading a book or Olympic training, people make me uncomfortable if I feel we're 'competing' for a shared space. I'd rather they just 'have it' and I go away.
