There is a new version of Microsoft Live Messenger... and looking at the help forums over there most users don't like the new layout or the other changes.
The other thing is that it seems it is difficult to UNinstall without loosing contact list etc.... System Restore seems to be the ONLY way to get rid of it and switch back to the earlier version without loosing stuff.
If you are on Live Messenger watch for the update ... I got mine through the routine "windows has updates for your computer" notice and clicked on it without a thought.
If you want to try the new version make a new System Restore Point before you update.. that way you can change back hassle free.
