Rubbish! I have a great friend who's had to put up with a lot from his partner when he got cancer. He stood by him through all of it!! He's a tough and great guy and that's exactly how i'd be with someone I love. His partner said to me one day that he was surprised he had stood by him at times but he was so grateful for it.

You don't abandon anyone you care about and that shows true love and real loyalty! It's what you do - for better or for worse - if you commit to someone!

I'd agree with loyalty, no one just erase a person just because there's a problem in his/her life, but it's most common for one to stay there till the end, but as a friend, if I had a case like ur friend and my bf had cancer... The way I am, I'd probably be so bad that I'd only be a burden, I've seen a lot of my childhood friends pass away already, I kinda freak out when I even think that I might lose someone else I love :/. I would try to help and be there, but probably break up cuz I would be in shambles... I'd be there as a friend.

loyalty mattes but it shouldn't be something of a burden...im the kind of person that would stay and help as mcuh as possible simply because thats how i would want to be treated. No matter how much i may hate someone i'd still help them out when they are in need...perhaps i just haven't hated someone well enough to think otherwise

Meh, I'd help cuz that's how I am, but if it was someone I hated I'd help just so that it would eat em up inside when they got it back together... or at least feel bad for whatever was the reason that made me hate the person xD

You said it there. I've seen a bit worse. When a loved one gets Alzheimers and turns nasty and mean. Obviously they don't know it but the pain it causes the other is unbearable to see.
I can't imagine how that must be on an individual, when your loved one forgets you and become mean towards you...
