Has any one tried using Media Players to watch videos? If you prefer to watch what you download here on television, rather than on computer, it saves a lot of trouble and time coverting them and putting them on dvd. I've been using Iomega HD Media Player for several weeks. All you do is plug the media player into the television, and then an external drive or usb key into the media player. It will play most videos but not all and in good quality. I don't understand why it won't play some videos - it doesn't seem to recognise the codec - but it does play about three quarters of them. It's much easier. I thought I'd see if other people are doing this.

I have a media player that I have never used, why? Because just after buying it I bought a LG LED TV , with a USB port that I just plug an external drive into and play them that way. No doubt I will get around to linking the media player, they are a good solution.
I use a Sumvision Cyclone media player which has network streaming and will play most file formats including WMV.
Other good players include the WD Tv Live and the Asus O Play.
If your media player won't play a particular files, you can try converting it with a free program such as the excellent Handbrake:

I have the original WD TV, which I bought for music playback (flac file format). Unfortunately, it introduces audible clicks every 8 seconds or so on any audio file longer than about eight minutes, and I listen to classical music, where many tracks are 20 minutes or more. It's supposedly an issue with the small amount of memory in the device, but for some reason it will play an entire high definition movie with no glitches, so go figure! :?
I looked into a couple of others, but found occasional mentions of similar problems with lossless music playback, so I gave up. I have a 30 inch monitor for my computer, so I just use that for my porn. And I'm perhaps odd in that I feel strange jacking off in the living room (where my home theater is), whereas my computer is in my bedroom. You'd think that living alone and being over 40 I would jack off wherever I felt like, but what can I say? :blushing:
)
