NBA Player comes out as gay

Kudos to the guy for doing this but I long for the day when:-
a) This no longer becomes a major news story
b)A Premier League footballer finds the courage to do the same

I applaud him for having the courage to come out as a gay man in a major sports arena such as basketball.

And there's so many others... but hey what makes the news of that one isn't just the fact that he's a professional basketball player... he just broke all stereotypes. He's a basketball player, he's black and he's gay... Basketball player / black OK, But Gay, black and a professional player... that's against nature. You can't be all three so it's not just a simple news... it's a milestone that this dude just did and I hope those mumbling at his baptist church are spitting out their holy water by their stupid noses

Good post Jake!..In regard to the Baptist church, they are already scrutinizing him for coming out especially because of him being a black athlete due to their homophobia and what they say is in the Bible. However, what many churches fail to mention is that there are other areas within the Bible that does not look down upon homosexuality. Unfortunately, these chapters are considered to irrelevant. A black football star was to speak at a Southern Baptist church yesterday I believe but when the church was informed that he posted on his twitter account his support the basketball player, his speaking engagement was cancelled and yet, they keep saying that things are beginning to open up and acceptance is recognizable within society....

He's not just an athlete...he's a 7 foot, 255 pound NBA center!
He seems like the perfect person to take this on. He's older, and a free agent ( not bound to a team). He's pretty thoughtful and levelheaded.
And he's marching in Boston gay pride in June! I hope he marches with Governor Deval, who's about 5ft 6 and adorkably cute.
