Well - at first let me admit that I like porn and I like porn with much cream and juice.

Some thoughts:


Doing (gay) porn doesn't have the same negative stigma in the Czech Republic as it does in many West European countries. Maybe the fact that religion never has played a big role in Czech society might have something to do with this.

In the past Czech gay porn studios promised models that their scenes could not be viewed in the Czech republic. Videos/DVDs from Czech gay porn studios were not sold in the Czech Republic and most websites from Czech gay porn studios could not be accessed from within the Czech Republic. Nowadays, in the Age of Social Media this hasn't much value.

BA has the habit of filming a number of scenes with a model before releasing his first scene. When the model gets negative reactions after the release of his first scene and decides to stop with doing gay porn, BA has still a number of scenes with him on the shelf.

As well as the good points made by Absalom, there is also the effect of military service. This was compulsory until 2004, it gave the young men a lot of gym training, which left them with beautiful bodies but not much money. Though the training is now voluntary, the result is the same, lots of hot fit lads. Another aspect of the training, some say, I don't know if this is true, is that it gives the men the confidence to take risks, to try something new and not be afraid. Questioning the extreme exclusive focus on the Czech Republic in many of the post above is definitely correct.

George Duroy who founded the BA studio in 1993 is himself a Slovak native, just like Johan Paulik, one of the biggest star models working for BA in the 1990s and early 2000s who also became BA:s general manager for Europe in 2002.

I find that very old-fashioned attitude very strange. That was the power of stigma and conformity in the past. It also made people truly believe that just because a gay man married a woman and had children by her that he 'must' be straight.
