BBC Radio 4. Both SlimJim & myself are huge fans.

Is there anything better?? We still have dramas, great radio comedy and fantastic current affairs programmes.

Does anywhere else in the world still produce stuff like this for the mind instead the crap that's on TV ?

There might be such program in Germany too, but I don't listen to the radio that much, only when I can borrow my stepfathers car ^^

But I don't watch TV that much too. I didn't have much time when I was working and I don't have a TV on my own. I only watch selected programs I record on otr. At the moment for example I watch a program that aired this night on a regional station and that shows 3 hours of a demonstration that was 20years ago in a city called Berlin (East)... and I am crying all the time.

We had a good documentary on RADIO about that the other day and I can totally understand your feelings. It was a momentous occasion, and I think we can thank Gorbochov in Russia for what he did - or maybe more for what he did not do! ;)

Hey X and SJ - do you guys have access to satellite radio over there? example...

http://www.sirius.com/

We get it here in the US and Canada. It's like 130 channels - music (every genre), news. sports, talk, lifestyle, live sporting events - it's really very cool! It's like cable TV for radio and costs about $12 a month for service but you can get it all across the US and Canada . I signed up 4 years ago and would never go back to terrestrial radio...

(PS - we also get BBC World Service which I do listen too!)

I've heard of that Garth, but don't think it's available here. I have friends over there who listen.

I signed up several years ago and would never go back but the 2 companies that competed in the US recently merged (and will probably raise prices) so it's not a medium that's likely to spread across the pond quite yet. It IS a hoot though...anything you want from 1940's swing music to nutty right wing talk radio at your fingertips and 130 stops inbetween - available 24/7! For people on the go (like me) it's a godsend!

I listen to odd bits of it, some Radio 4

However I enjoy it more for the comedy. A comedien named Andrew Lawrence had a show on there for a few weeks a while back and I loved every second of it!
