An advice to you who manages and run the forum, Do not accept attachments for the forum, Forum portal engine work overloaded as it is now
Example each single user use the attached "bmp" images on screencaps when the quality is better, Eeach file can be up to one megabyte
this kills the forum 100% and requires a large hard disk space. let the user use exampel a independent host like http://www.gayphotosharing.com
If al user will use it the forum going to works much better and no one can attachments malicious code.

As a general rule, I believe hotlinking is actually the preferred method here, because it does save bandwidth. While a link could still zap an unexpecting person who clicks on it, you do make a good point about leaving the code off of the server altogether.

I think all of us want to ensure that the board runs as smoothly as possible.
