Treating myself for Christmas as the PS2 has given up the ghost and can't decide between the 2. I'm leaning towards the PS3 at the mo unless someone can persuade me otherwise.

Your thoughts please......

ps3 or 360

i myself own both but i play my ps3 alot more depending on the games you like as halo is only thing the 360 offers thats keeping the 360 alive as for the ps3 i am currently playing ratchet and clanks a crackin time--- god of war collection and uncharted 2----play uncharted 1 and 2--and you will see whythe ps3 is better--not to mention you can playvideo files off of a flash drive you cant on the 360-- online play is free the 360 not--wireless network card is built in the ps3 --you have to buy a adapter 80 bucks to hook up online--- and to this day the red ring od death still occurs and as for the ps3 i bought one on day one and no problems at all

plus the hard drive is upgradable if need to put a bigger hard drive in as to where the 360 only offers 120 and 250 gig drives that range 150 to 300 bucks as for one for ps3 i put a 200 gig in mine for 60 bucks so weigh the pros and cons and you will see the ps3 offers alot more for the price

as for blu ray movies buy the new terminator movie and buy wolverine xmen and you will be hooked on hd movies

I also own both, both systems and each has its pros and cons.

PS3 Pros: Has a bluray player, can play media from a flash drive or external HDD, Can upgrade the internal HDD from any computer store. Has some very excellent games out. Can link PSP and PS3.

Cons: Few games in the United States, it does have some really good games, but PS3 was late in getting them out to us and there is still a small selection of games. Netflix is not intergrated like xbox. No longer backwards compatible to PS2 games.

XBOX360 Pros: Big selection of games, can stream netflix . System is backwards compatible with most xbox games.

XBOX360 Cons: Can accept flash drive files however not much support for most media extensions. Can only play regular DVD, however you can buy an HD external drive but since sony won the High Def DVD format war, there are very few HD disks to choose from now.

ps3 or 360 part 2

i have played alot of dvds and blu ray movies on my ps3--no problems yet

you can sit here debate with some guys that are flat out xbox360 fanboys which can be easy to tell just by the way they put the ps3 down and the 360 is got od gaming i am not a fanboy of either one i love videogames and whether it was ps3 xbox360 ps400 xbox 720 if they have games i want to play i will buy them and play them

now easy way to do it is this if you are in usa or in area that have rent to own my opinion would be go get one try it for couple weeks then take it back rent the other then see for yourself which you like best---

as for games 90 percent of games is out on both the ps3 and the 360 just a few games not on both like halo is on the 360 but not on the ps3-- then you got god of war collectors edition god of war 3 on ps3 but not the 360 so you being a ps2 owner if you played god of war games then ps3 will be your choice as it will never see the light of day on the 360--then other game heavy rain on ps3 only on ps3

but the 360 has too human as well which kind of sucked so no loss there but where the 360 comes to shine is the games off their arcade--plosion man and shadow complex is fun to play then on ps3 they have ratchet and clank quest for booty on their arcade site

go to ign.com or gamespot.com watch vids for various consoles then make your choice but lets look at it this way--

xbox360 ps3

hard drive not upgradeable easily any 2.5 size hard drive fits the ps3 so a a 400 gig drive from newegg will fit it easily

internet connectivity--both consoles have ethernet port out of the box but if wanting wireles the ps3 has built in as for the 360 does not will set you back 80 to 100 bucks ---hd movies on ps3 are blu ray as for the 360 hd dvd format but it died and blu ray won

discs for consoles are as follows the 360 holds 10 gig of data--single layer blu ray 25 gig dual layer 50 gig--more data means more gameplay--there was a game on the 360 called lost oddessy its on four discs as if it were on the ps3 it would have all fit on one disc--another game was star ocean the last hope was on three discs --once again it would fit on one disc on the ps3--

this is important as i had lost oddessy and whenever you had to go back to various parts of the game it would say insert disc 3 or 2 -- this was very annoying---

and future games will be on one or the other thats why i got both actually i got the wii as well love mario hehehe

controllers--the ps3 is bluetooth and rechargeable out of the box--the 360 isnt bluetooth--its 2.4 ghz frequency-- not rechargeable that will set you back another 20 bucks for a plug n play kit to put rechargeable battery in it-- now i know someone will say the ps3 controller battery is built in --once battery goes dead you will need to replace the controller---remember newegg.com is your friend heheehe--as i order from them all the time the controller is 50 to 55 bucks at store 35 to 40 online--

i guess only thing is this if you liked the ps2 liked their controller and all then ps3 is your choice because even though i got both i love the ps3 controller the most as the xbox controller is big and not comfortable to hold

that will do for now until i see other posts then i will reply again just think in few days it wont matter and if you get ps3 or 360 let me know and we ccan hook up online and talk while we play

It's sounds like you're a PS fanatic. The Xbox elite is I think the best choice -at least until Sony come up with a new machine, PS4.

Or, a decent gaming laptop or desktop, while much more expensive, is the absolute best. Consider the newest Alienware laptop:

http://anonym.to/?http://www1.euro....x?refid=laptop-alienware-m17x&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1

Creaming my nickers just looking at this machine -'have to have it' factor. So expensive though...

desktop is the way to go, and alienware is hugely overated in my opinion...there are much better deals tobe had with asus/fx/even sonY( which i had). But please be aware of what the extra expenses of accessories like gaming mouse, keyboard, coolers( either for desktop or laptop) when all thats considered it'll run you well over a grand..even with a competent desktop.

I neither own either the xbox360 nor the ps3 but i know diehard fans of both consoles and they'd argue day and night over which system is better. Being that i've played both and i've been a ps fan i must say i lean to the ps3. Only reason i haven't bought one is after my sony laptop i couldn't afford it. Overall the cost of owning at xbox 360 is less than that of ps3 when you factor in the many pros/cons that already been listed. The only other thing that hasn't been mentioned is the fact that the 360 does have a faster processor, playing both i can't say its undermines the ps3 because the clarity and smoothness of a game depends on more than just he speed of ram. And as far as games go, i can live without halo and i prefer the ps3. It almost a matter of which console is your cup of tea!

in short everything i just said can be learned also by simply going over the reviews..anyways thats my 2cents best of lucks!

the problem with desktop computer is that the best games are on the consoles and i dont see any prorper emulation coming up in the next couple of years (they are still stuck on ps2 emu, and i wonder why there is no proper xbox and psp emulators around... )

i have the same decision problem between the xbox and ps3 which i plan to buy once i finish the semester...
but it think i`ll go toward the ps3 due to ffx13 and god of war 3
(mainly the letter because the former has a xbox port i think )

I was thinking of getting one or the other, but I can't really decide, largely because I prefer pc gaming, anyway... er, also I can't afford anything like that right now.

Heh, a friend of mine had an Xbox, decided they're subpar, and traded it int and got a ps3, which he insits is leagues better. And at the same time, my nephew played someone elses ps3, decided they're not as good as people make out, and had an xbox for his birthday last year, which he's been surgically attatched to ever since. The fun thing is, I'll occasionally say "Hmm, I think I'll get one of them." when they're both in the room with me. This leads to bickering, and it's all very amusing. Especially when you consider my friend is 21 and my nephew is 14.

You should check game list for xbox and for ps3 and choose the platform based on its games.

If all games you wanna play are on both platforms play with ps3 of your friend and with xbox of your nephew and decide it....

Also you should think if you are going to use it to see films cause ps3 has bluray but xbox not...
