In order to download anything with my crappy connection I have to be able to resume downloads. Mostly I use Igetter. but RapidGator doesn't allow that so its unusable for me.

Try JDownloader. I use to use it and it works on Rapidgator too. Sometimes you may get some strange messages when you try to download more than one file after another, but mostly it means you have reached your daily download quota.

Like jimid, I'm also in the eastern USA. Rapidgator has been very dependable for me.

I wonder: has anyone succeeded so far using JDownloader for RapidGator-downloads ? I just updated JD with the latest Plugins - but RapidGator doesn't work :thinking:

Been using Rapidgator with JDownloader with no problems until recently. I noticed that when I wanted to download something with Rapidgator, JDownloader acted like it wasn't activated. Must be a bug in the software that they haven't fixed yet. Here is how I have dealt with the problem until they fix it. This is a little burdensome, but it will allow you to use JDownloader until they fix it. Each time you have a rapidgator file to download, once it is loaded in your Linkgrabber, go to the "Settings" Tab next to the Linkgrabber Tab and find the Rapidgater listing. In my case, every time after a successful Rapidgator download, JDownloader "deactivates" it. So just check the Rapidgator box and (Rapidgator will be unchecked and darkened - not highlighted). When you check the box, right-click & hit "Refresh". For now, this will allow downloads to proceed. If you stop downloading and go back later for more, you will need to do this again. It's takes a few seconds longer to download, but at least you'll be able to retrieve Rapidgator files until they fix it. Good luck

I am about to give up on Rapidgator. This is really frustrating, I've been trying to download a few things over the past week, absolutely NOTHING has worked. Small little files, large ones, nothing will go past a tiny percentage of its download and I get "unknown network error." Or it stops downloading and I cancel it myself. I can try to restart it, the same thing happens. Everything starts off fine for a minute or so, then bam! everything stops.

It looks like others aren't having the same problem, at least no one on the threads complains and people keep switching to RG. I have a premium membership but I've tried using the regular one, which used to work fine for me. I wonder if it could be that my internet isn't terribly fast, though it's not horribly slow either. Other hosts work ok, but no one is using them much anymore. I am in the US and using a Mac.... any ideas before I go completely crazy?

As you have a premium membership, I'd suggest you contact Rapidgator and complain to them. Threaten to cancel membership and request a refund, perhaps.

JDownloader isn't even giving a captcha for downloading files from Rapidgator. Sounds like a lost cause since all its doing is throwing me into a loop.

Edit: And I even opened the link and put in the captcha showing into JDownloader. Fatal Error. Definite lost cause indeed.

I've been using rapidgator (premium) with JDownloader for about 3-4 months and never had any problems with it, occasionally have to go into settings and recheck the 'enabled' box for some reason but other than that its great, speed wise I normally get over 1 Mbps download speed during daytime until my ISP starts throttling my download speeds, although after midnight its about 1.2-1.4 Mbps all night

In the past 24hrs Rapidgator at least for me has been inacessable at least by browser. I can access it via ftp. Is anyone else having problems in connecting to the site by browser or is it just me?

FTP stands for file transfer protocol and it basically involves transferring files from computer to server or vice versa, clients like Filezilla are used for ftp based connections.

As for RapidGator.. I've not had zero connection issues, but I've noticed that their network has been a bit shaky. For a few minutes you'd not be able to connect to their website, and then it would be fine again and occasionally the countdown timer won't initiate.

I had a lot of trouble with it yesterday. Wasn't able to download a single file, after several attempts (connection reset, download gets stuck) and thus reached my download limit without actually doing anything.
God, if we could only go back a year in time, when we had several at least decent options for d/l...

Lets hope it's just a regional thing as almost 5 hrs later no browser connect but ftp connection via an ftp client works fine but useless for d/l-ing only good for uploading...

There are some useful sites out there to help with answers to whether it's regional or global. Go to Google and type: "is xxxxx down" where xxxxx is rapidgator or whatever. You'll be presented with a number of sites which will ping the server and give a detailed answer. Test with Oron or Mojofile for example.
