RAR/Zip files and splitting Question

I did a Rapidlibrary Search and Damn, I can see many of my files! Duh . . . X_X

So I'm going to start RAR or 7zipping them, but question:

Do I first split with hjsplit and then rar/7zip each .001, .002 etc., or do I rar/7zip the complete clip/movie first and then have hjsplit split the rar/zip file?

It's probably in the Help files of RAR but I can't find it.

I'm going to change file names and password protect, any other suggestions or pitfalls to watch out for?

if you zip your files, you don´t need to split them with hjsplit. you can configure the zip software to split...

OTOH, while that is a nice twofer, note that image files are not compressed much, if at all, by Zipping them. In fact it is possible to enlarge them that way. So if the breakup is really what you are after, another tool will do just as well.

Steve you just configure your (rar) archives to split into smaller parts if needed. Winrar can do that very well.

One tip: I didn't know for a long time that it is possible to enter a random size of rar.part archive (not just the default ones). For example you can enter 50 mb if you wish your rar.part files are 50 megabytes big each. You just type any desirable size you need into "split to volumes".

And don't forget to check option when setting password: to encrypt file names too.

Michelon why don't you encrypt file names too. So when someone opens a rar file he can't even see the file name, but he has to enter the pass first.
