I'm not sure how many of you remember LFO, a boyband back in the 90's, but I felt the need to post this here.
Rich Cronin, the driving force behind the late 90's boyband LFO (which stood for Lyte Funky Ones), who hit it big with hits such as "Summer Girls" and "Girl On TV", died yesterday after a long bout with leukemia. He was only 35 years old.
After his participation on VH1's "Man Band", which surrounded ex-boybanders coming together to create a new band; he admitted he had been battling the disease for some time. He was in remission for a while, but it returned. While hospitalized, he had a stroke that he never recovered from. He died Wednesday afternoon.
I wasn't the hugest fan of LFO, but I did like some of their songs and Rich eventually became a producer and writer for many other pop artists that I enjoyed. When I read this earlier this morning, my heart dropped a bit. Although a small part of it, he definitely had a part of my pop-loving teen years and he will be missed.
For those who need a bit more of a reminder, here is the video for "Summer Girls".
Rest in peace, Rich; your music will live on and you will be missed by the many fans you touched.
