So is it real, how many Satanists are there?

So if you think about how many religious people there are in the world, and that religion has it's boom during a recession, there must be a ratio in terms of those on the opposite side!

I met a school teacher from Canada on holidays last year and she told me how convinced she was that demons were 'all around', she said she was forced into retirement for telling her pupils this! But she was a really nice lady and drove myself and a friend right across France in a day.

There is also this story from my County in Ireland about some guys who were Satanists and said the Our Father backwards (Catholic prayer) and one of them was found by the Gardai (police) upside down between the wall and the ceiling (suspended!) and his hair had turned white!

So...

What is their point? Being a bad person, insulting other people, killing other people?!

I dont know much about it myself, except from watching made-for-TV movies here in the States that usually depecit a rogue gang of teens dressed in goth garb and wreaking havoc on society which is all not true but in my heart as much evil that occurs in the world and moreso as much that happens here in the States, there has to be some truth to the existence of a very evil force.

Actually in the UK it is a recognised religion , and about 3 or 4 years ago the Royal Navy was forced to permit a serving rating to undertake satanistic rituals whilst serving at sea.

Note that was satanistic NOT satanic.

I actually have a copy of Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible, and contrary to what most people believe, there is nothing about being evil, or killing people, or black masses mentioned in it...

Given this defination, it could be said that many of us are practicing Satanist without even knowing it.

Yep, satanic bible it's nothing unusual. it's neither horrifying nor especially funny. but remember that for many teenagers in treir rebel-age, when their read it for the first time, it's offen something like "whoa, I can behave like that?" ^^

IMO all this LaVeyan stuff it's generaly more for confused teens than realy matured people

Tell that to all the corporate executives and politicians who have modeled their entire lives on LaVey's teachings without ever reading the book. It just proves that Satan is the nature of man...

Quite true! I don't believe in evil as an entity or force any more than any other kind of independent force. Might just as well believe in the tooth fairy!

Not me... I was kind of into satanism when I was younger but I consider myself to be atheist nowadays. Or agnostic, haven't decided
