How were your school days? Were the they best days of your life? Did you make life long friends and memories? Or we're you bullied or did you hate it. Share your memories and even how it effected your later life. I have a while bunch of stories. One thing that surprised me was how many of my so called straight friends are gay and married. I went to an all boys school so that complicated matters.

I went to an all-boys school as well, and have been best man at weddings of guys who were pretty un-straight back then. Wasn't a happy time for me - got labelled as what they called a pretty boy right from early on and got bullied. Left at 17, which was a happy day for me. But I look back on it now with regret. A lot of missed opportunities

I went to the main exam school in the center of the city. It was all boys at the time. People were very focused on academics and achievement. Friendships were mostly casual and confined to school.
Most boys had their real teen friendships in their local neighborhood. That's how it was for me. One of my group was pretty femme and was gay. A few more were gay, but that didn't come out till later. For the most part they have scattered to the winds over the decades. I do have one close friend from those days. Gay. For the last years he and his sister rent the first floor of my house. So we see each other, go clubbing, and general goofing around.

I feel lucky to have gone to Ryhope school. It was a grammar that converted to comprehensive. That means I got the best of both worlds, the strict formal old style teaching to high standards combined with a modern liberal easy going environment. Ideal mixture. Sure I got beaten up but so what, that taught me not to be scared of a little pain. A mixed sex school too, spliting up the boys and girls seems an unhealthy idea.
Because going home after school was nothing to look forward to I stayed behind as late as possible every night, there was a gang of us that practicaly owned the place when no one was looking.
Rest in peace Dick Copeland our much loved and sadly missed headmaster.

Some great stories here. My schooling was back in the 90s

I went to an all boys school, we had a group of 'elite' guys, the teachers loved us and the other boys hated us. Then we had the bullies group in there were three or four groups of these but there was a truce between then. Then there was this clearly closeted bully who was fixated with me. He just could resist mocking the way I walked and talked. This guy was obsessed I hated him at the time and in this day and age I would have knocked him out but back then I tried to brush it off and ignore it. You could tell he was horny and craved dick.

From my elite circle no one was openly gay. There was one guy Daniel who was so femme it was ridiculous. I think his parents sent him into the lions den that the school was thinking he might 'straighten out' but I felt sorry for him. He once had a hard on in the showers and word got around. He was bullied a lot. Actually he and I were both bullied so we stuck together. Another from our group of five was my absolute best friend. He was very big and macho and had a girlfriend at the time so I never suspected a thing. One day in our final year we had a bust up over a stupid little thing and I stopped talking to him. He even cried. I was one my greatest regret. He was heart broken but I just wanted him out of my life and I was going through a lot of issues back then. Then I never saw him again. About 10yrs later I found him on Facebook and he was married to a man. That really surprised me. I never ever suspected a thing. I did try to befriend him on facebook him but I never got accepted. I actually penned out a long email to him basically apologising for being an ass at the time and said if he ever wanted to be friends again I would love to start over. I never got a response. I was a terrible person to him and he took the brunt of a lot of my frustrations. I hope he and his husband are happy now.

One good story is that one particular friend I have kept in contact with for over 20yrs from school. We have almost zero things in common but when you've known someone since before your teens you grow so close like brothers that you can enjoy each others company even with nothing in common. In 20yrs we have been through a lot. We fight all the time but when it comes to the crunch he knows ill be there for him and I know he'll be there for me.

Now you've got me started. I cant stop thinking about my favourite boy. It would never have crossed my mind to touch him or do anything with him, just to sit next to David was as much happiness as my little heart could take. Not that I fancied him, not that we had much in common, just that I could talk to him and feel a bonding of souls. There was that religious knowledge (now there's an oxymoron) lesson when the conservative old teacher called the head a puff, for his liberal promotion of equality and opposition to physical punishment. David challenged the teacher and demanded an retraction and an apology and got one too. In those days you did not dispute the teacher. But David did and I was so proud of him.
Last time I saw him was when he went to see "The Song Remains The Same" Terrible movie but that wasnt the point, it meant sitting next to him for two hours so who cares whats on the screen. Sometimes I run that movie, even though I dont want to watch it, just to be reminded of an awesome boy. Wherever his is now I hope he is happy.

Am sorry to hear you didn't enjoy school. Everybody has some problems there, I had plenty of beatings but then so did everyone else so I never felt a victim and a bad day at school was still better than a good day at home. Forget about the bad times, the good times are the ones to remember. Surely there must be some good memories to hang on to.

From present perspectve quite strange - thats exactly how it was not bad not good, but strange, Talking about my days on highschool when I was 15 - 19. It was times when I wasn't kid already, but not adult yet as well. These times I was thinking I'm happy, but I was idiot, closeted gay (till I was 18) living like asexual - waiting for "girl what would worth for something".
Lot of alcohol, lot of stupid claptrap from me, childish behavior, etc...
But I wasn't experiencing bulling. I was quite popular between my friends, also sometimes target of jokes. But generally I can say most of bad things what was happening me, was just my guilty - problems in my head. 90% of my friends from this time has taken my comming out perfectly.

Don't tell me it was sounding (shudders) :p

That would have been highly enjoyable if the doc had known how it was done for pleasure.
The only sounds we had were from rock bands.

Back in the dark ages, it was nevertheless pretty fun.
And very modest fooling around in dorms... but one had to be very careful.

I remember school showers, our PE teacher would join us. We thought that was weird. When we went to swimming classes in our 4th grade we were in open changing rooms with adult men. That pretty much the first time we saw grown men naked with pubes and body hair. Don't remember being attracted to them but I did see one or two body types thinking I wanted to be like that when I was big.

Our gym had a separate staff shower so we would have thought it suspicious if the teacher had come into the boys shower. It was like a car wash with water coming from all directions, lots of steam clouds so anything could have been going on in there, sadly I was too scared to find out why some of them stayed in there so long.

Tell me about it.

1. My sports teacher kept flashing all of us – he had a big dick. Years later (i.e. when I was 19) In found out he'd screwed a number of boys and cruised me in the gay club. he wanted to know why I hadn't seen him for a rub. SO DID I!

2. At the same time a BF screwed me off so I went hunting at the clubs and picked up a young twink. But it was the other way around. he was 3 years my junior and had been lusting after me (I only wish nowadays). The dick was HUGE, and he use to use it in the dark room of the physics lab. Damn it!

3. Finally, I was headboy (UK mixed school) and at the finalday danced with the headgirl (yuk) who kept rubbing herself against my dick (cue exit). Two years later she accosted me in a gay bar with her girlfriend – c'est la vie!

Great question. Went to High school with the likes of Rob Lowe Emilio Estevez and many others. I wasn't out but I knew who I was and always made sure I had the best view in the lockerrooms. Playing football had Rob Estes pull his jock over my face, if I knew then what I know now he never would have got it back. I keep in touch with some friends not many. I always took super ealry classes so I could leave at lunch, started working early so I always had a job in high school. Probably would have been more social had I stayed for the lunch hour. Absolutely no regrets. Growing up in dogtown was a great experience if it wasn't for Santa Monica (SoCal) I would not have developed my love of velcro ripping on boardshorts or skateboards going clickity clack on the sidewalk, two sounds that give me whiplash to this day. Skate boarders and surfers in SoCal things could definitely be worse.

I was never bullied since I didn't tell anyone that I was gay until I left high school. I have no friends from the time before high school but still got few close ones from high school. I'm currently in polytechnical university where I've developed a close friendship with few guys and everyone from my class knows that I'm gay. I'm graduating next month and I'll propably miss the group.

My highschool was located close to the "red light district" and a "gay bar area", it was a very liberated highschool in a wild part of the city BUT with high standards. We had loads of fun but yes the occational fights did happen. In my class there were kids from all backgrunds, kids of lawyers, doctors, kids of devorced parents, kids of hand labourers and even a kid whos mom was a prostitute. With just 1 of them I still have contact, but at our class reunion it turned out all (all besides 1) ended up OK :)

I look at high school as the biggest failure of my life. I couldn't give a shit about anything back then, I had almost straight F's and a bad reputation in general. If there was one period of my life I could do over that would be it, I was/am too smart and too capable to just waste my life like that ever again.

I was on the swim team in high school which made high school fun. Besides that it sucked. College was 10 times better for me.
