Love, cause sex is just sex without love, and there many kind of loves. Lack of sex is easier to "deal" with, than the lack of love. And love lasts longer. Of course sex adds lot to romantic love, but it's basicly only a huge plus.

I am in the privileged position that there is love around the clock. I have a very good relationship with my three kids, my grandchild, my sister and her kids, my friends and of course, last but not least my dogs and my cat. At my age some incidental sexual experiences give me a feeling of total happiness.
Exactly. Here are some good reasons why sex may trump love in some instances.
1. You're confused about your sexuality and need to experiment
2. You're young, single and free, why commit yourself at at early age?
3. You may not be in a relationship at a later age and therefore not committed
4. Love isn't easy to come by. Do you stay celibate until Mr Right pops along?
5. You've ended a relationship and need a some time, space to recuperate, find yourself, you're single free.
6. People have physical needs. Great Sex feels great.
7. Sometimes you gotta screw a few frogs until you find your prince.
For me it's I've found myself switching from one to a other at various stages in life.
At this stage in my life, love and companionship matter much more. If you live in a gay friendly metro area, sex is pretty available this days if you are willing to put yourself out there.
Love (romantic love) is much harder to find.
I wonder about folks in a rural area, or where most of the gays have moved away. If you're the only gay in the village, I would think that finding a hook up would matter quite a bit.

Interesting but in my case Alex and I moved away from the city and without even knowing it we were surrounded with a bunch of other gay couples who fled the city to established in the country. For me it's a given I just hate the city, but I was quite surprised to see such a flock of gay geese leaving the city.

Both. Trust me.. At this stage both are of equal importance.. If I have no other choice but to choose either I'd rather be without. I'm way too emotionally attached to have casual sex, and way too sexually charged to live a life without contact.

I have seen too much unhappiness caused by the inability to separate love and sex, which are two entirely different things. As gay men we can, if need be, have sex with almost anything capable of an erection, bad sex being better than no sex in the way that however shitty the food at McDonalds is, it's better than starvation.
With love there is only good love, bad love is not love at all, nothing like it. Does anyone know the origin of the saying "one only truly loves once"? Whoever said it I am certain that it is true. A string of affairs is infatuation not love. Falling in love is the best thing you will ever do.
