sharingmatrix - is it safe

hey guys, today i upload my first clip useing sharingmatrix (i usally use something else)
i was intrested about the money idea so i start looking in there site and i found out this:
the site does not allowe the upload of Adult Content, if such will be found sharingmatrix hold the right to remove the file, or cancel the user account and if necceserry will report the user and any one that acquired the the illegal or obscene content

it does sound a litile scary, no?
what do you think, is uploading with sharingmatrix is a good idea or not?

I don't believe sharingmatrix doesn't allow adult content. I've read terms and conditions but I understood the term "Adult" in a "obscene" way. Term "Adult" is used only in the title of one paragraph but in the body of that paragraph only the term "obscene" is used. Now "obscene" has various meanings but I think they meant extreme kinds of porn (like zoo, scat... and so on).

Furthermore you have owners of sharingmatrix promoting their host here at Gayheaven forum. Which means they probably allow adult content. Or they just stick to the "don't ask don't tell policy"

I also bought sharingmatrix account. So I'm interested in this too.
I'd like to invite others to share their opinion on how they understand sharingmatrix Terms & Conditions in paragraph Illegality/Adult Content.

To me it's extremely weird sharingmatrix would promote itself on a porn board (here) but not allowing porn on their host. That would make no sense.

My guess is it may be a requirement of their operating license that they print such a disclaimer... but in practise thay do not enforce it.

... materials which could reasonably be said to offend the public conscience.

I know what you meant but I would rather switch the term public conscience with limited audience conscience.

Public conscience today sometimes has troubles with just being gay. Now imagine public reaction to innocent gay facial. X_X X_X

I extremely doubt there'd be any issue with SM and Adult stuff. As said above, it's probably one of those technicalities that have to be up there by law. SM has been used alot on this forum as a host and noone has ever had any issues with it so I'd say upload/download without fear using it.

The site has since changed hands and will be on the improve from it's current state as well, so I'd imagine all will become clear soon regardless

I can't see how it couldn't improve. So far I've never been able to download anything from it as a free user. I tried a small file today to test it. Estimated download time was something like 8 hours, didn't matter because it died after about 5 minutes.

Also all these biggish internet companies have a legal department or employ a legal adviser. These legal people will always advise that a disclaimer about "pornography", "obscenity", etc go in the terms & conditions. So if & when someone takes legal action against them they can hold up their hands in horror and so say: "But our terms & conditions explicitly ban such material!" But it also means that they can legitimately ban & delete material that most of would certainly not want to allow, or be associated with - like snuff movies, child abuse.

Agree with you Mamah on what you said about these hosts avoiding responsibility! But on the other hand we also have let's say more fair hosts which usually don't even mention words like porn or adult content in their terms of service. I believe Rapidshare doesn't mention any of that. So Rapidshare for example doesn't say it's allowed and it doesn't say it is not allowed. Could it be true that only US hosts must have such or similar anti-adult clause in their TOS?

Btw. what's snuff movies? :?

Sharingmatrix is a cash whores magnet

There's two guys who reposted all the vids and thumbs I posted here on another board using sharingmatrix to make money with my work: I remaster and enhance all the vids I post here.

In a few weeks sharingmatrix will be banned on most boards. :angry:

what they did was wrong, theres no argu with that but if you upload something and also make some money in the proccess then there is nothing wrong with that.
me for once, when ever i buy some porn (i usally do a membership for some sites that i cant find there clips anywhere), when i post the clips i will prefer to upload in a way i can make some money (and its really not a lot) for the next time i will pay for a membership

@Pete - Simply use the report button ( the ! in the triangle) to report those that do that to you and we'll make sure your files aren't used in this way. While SM may seem to reward this attitude, it doesn't get rewarded on this forum and it won't be allowed

On a slightly different note regarding Sharingmatrix -- quite often when I have downloaded a file and then open it through Winrar, I get an error message that says "Unexpected End of Archive" Can anyone tell me whether they have similar problems and why this happens? Thanks for any clues.

Basically 'unexpected end of archive' means that there are bits of file missing. So either the download didn't entirely finish or bits of the file were lost due to a choppy download rate or the file wasn't whole to begin with.

All that can be suggested is attempt redownloading or try to use a different source.

My experience is that sharingmatrix is crap. I bought a "premium" account and the fast links still link back to the buy a membership page. I've sent 3 emails to them and have heard nothing back - stay away from sharingmatrix paid accounts.

Hi,
regarding "end of archive" errors - sharing matrix downloads can be resumed, so you could download the remaining part only after the downloads breaks, if your download manager can handle resumes. If your downloading manually - get yourself a dl manager.

The other thing - if it is ok to post adult content: I think we could avoid most trouble by using passwords on rar wrapped content, even if this is unconvenient for downloaders. I think that a lot of links would "last" considerably longer if more passwords were used. Some dl sites remove links within 24 hours (somebody reported this in the images section the other day) if they find copyrighted or explicit material.
