I'm glad I don't live in America, it's a wonderful country until you need medical assistance, then it becomes a nightmare unless you have insurance.
Theres not a lot you can do about that right now so I am thinking about something small that you can do. You said once that you dont have a car now and that stops you getting around. Would it help if you could get around a little by bike. I dont mean spending any money, somebody always has a rusty machine in the back of the garage they are glad to get rid of, maybe on craigslist or some site like that. Any junk heap that actualy moves is enough to get started. Now I can hear everyone going "Oh but the roads are dangerous!" Yes they are but whats more dangerous is to be stuck staring at the walls going nowhere except crazy.
If you are in average shape ten miles out, ten miles back is a good start, once you get fitter twenty miles each way is not hard. Maybe there is still nothing worth visiting in that mile range. Even so, if it gets you somewhere, anywhere, its worthwhile. And then you get fitter, which makes you look better, makes you feel better and then it's easier to get a boyfriend. Honestly, it does work, when I have been hot and sweaty on my bike I just feel so much better, ordinary worries get blown away.
