Yes, but it worked I was using it occasionally time after time in names of persons etc... It worked without any problem.

The talented person who manages the technical aspects of the forum informed me several days ago that he is still working on this problem, but up until now, he has no clue what is causing this problem.

I understand how this is inconvenient for many of our members, but all English letters work fine so for the time being until a resolution is found, we will have to confine our text to English letters.

this weekend i got 3 mails here which were incomplete.... eaten by the forum.. its really irritating. Ppl usually do not check their sentbox so they don't know that mail wasn't been sent properly.
Staff should send a mail to all members regarding that issue.

I guess a sticky Thread from the technical guy to inform the 77.000+ GH-members about this problem, the progress of the efforts and some kind of notice when all characters can be used again would be very much appreciated :thumbs up:

Hi GH-technician - no need to be this silent for such a long time - please do your work on behalf of your GH - members or it seems to me that you maybe are not interested in the member-concerns not even been able to write a pm with their own words - you should be aware that not all 77.000+ GH-members are "native-english-typing".

Please show up and let the GH-community finally know about your work/efforts !

I think especially the GH-posters/uploaders which are thankfully providing this forum with new content - without them this forum would collapse - should finally be heard by the GH-tech-guy !

Thanks for the announcement, it's a good thing. Not everybody reads the subforums carefully. As for using "non-english-letters", well, I know about it but it just happens that I forget, when typing.

it is even a problem to use degree C(elsius) or F(ahrenheit), with the short sign on your keyboard. I thought it would be only a problem of accents in "non english" words, but it seems that most (but not all) special characters are concerned.

OK, Im still doing a bit of research on this.

All to do with the UTF-8 Character set I think

Found one thing, and then checked on GH, and found an extra space in the Meta tag as shown below in front of the word "charset" and also capital letters on Content Type rather than all lower case

Then found this

Then had a look around the Vbulletin website, and WOW there are loads of people having the same issue! Then it got too techy for me and my head started to hurt, as they were talking about VB and database versions etc.

So will leave it there until I can do some more research

Thanks to our TechAdmins the UTF8 problem finally is solved so I just want to let you know that again it's possible using special characters like é, É, å, ä, ö, ß etc.
